Deontay Wilder hasn’t fought since his debacle at MGM Grand Garden Arena against Tyson Fury in February 2020. He has since found himself in hot water several times, at one point firing his coach and trainer Mark Breland. He also lashed out at Tyson Fury and his team, accusing them of cheating in the fight.

14 months later, Wilder has revealed that he is very well in the sport and will continue showing his greatness in the sport. He further went on to say boxing is entirely driven by money, although maintaining that he wouldn’t bash his sport. Speaking in an interview with Boxing Scene, the struggling heavyweight claimed that politics plays a big role in the world of boxing and also among management, promotions, and companies.

Wilder was quoted as saying, “We in it for a reason. I love it. I’m in love with it. But trust is hard to come by because it’s money. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s a sport that I love, and I’m going to continue to do it and show my greatness in it.”

He then said, “I got a lot of things that I want to do in this sport. But politics play a big part in certain things happening. Management, promotion companies. Certain guys don’t want their fighters to fight certain guys because they plan for their guys. It’s a lot that goes on.

Speaking about the sport, Wilder said, “Boxing is a dirty business, man. Some people would say it’s a business, but it’s a good business when you are making money. I guess everyone is happy when they are making money. It’s a money-driven business. I’m not going to bash my sport, although I speak facts of it. It’s a monster of a sport.”

Wilder who lost to Fury, has been wanting another rematch ever since. However, the Gypsy King has got his hands full right now, with Anthony Joshua. And hence, Dillian Whyte who recently beat Alexander Povetkin is being looked upon as an option. The pair have been having a go at each other for quite a while.

It all started when Whyte called out Wilder when ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was at his peak. But Wilder who was at the pinnacle of his career completely had been ignoring the Body Snatcher, but now seems open to the challenge.
