Despite Antonio Brown’s unsettled relationship with many of his former teams, such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the wildest one was with the Oakland Raiders, even though he was with them for a few months only.

In those few months from March to September of 2019, Brown missed most of the training camp due to frostbite on his feet, fought with General Manager Mike Mayock by calling him a “cracker,” refused to wear the helmet provided by them, and eventually requested his release shortly after landing the highest-paid deal for a receiver by the Raiders.

In spite of the whole fiasco, when Derek Carr was asked about his best memory with Brown, in order to, get a controversial answer considering how things ended between the Raiders and Browns– he spoke about the star wideout with praise and respect.

I loved AB. Even at the end, like he was like "Derek Carr good dude but couldn't handle AB". And I was like you know what you're probably right… I thought I was going to win MVP that year.
Derek Carr said during his recent appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast

Even though Carr only got to practice alongside Brown for a few weeks in the training camp before the receiver sustained frostbite, he formulated a close bond and often let him borrow his car whenever Brown was in town and they also used to have long conversations.

Oh my gosh, I was like he's the hardest practicing player, I've ever seen in my life, and he practices hard. He competes at just a different level. And you know, hopefully he's a Hall of Famer, like as a player he's a Hall of Famer.

Derek Carr poised for a bounce-back year in 2024

Entering the upcoming 2024 season, quarterback Carr has great pressure on him to stand by the expectations of fans. His first season with the New Orleans Saints, after leaving the Raiders last year, didn’t go quite well and was criticized as well.

However, Carr has decided not to let that get into his head. Regardless of what opinions fans and critics have of him, he has faith in himself and knows that he is “at the best part” of his game and aspires to prove it in 2024.

Even though Carr had a slow start last year, he pulled through in the final five games by recording 1,128 yards, 14 touchdowns, and two interceptions. In those final games, he led the league in the touchdown counts and a 73.2% completion percentage.
