On the day Derek Carr lost to his 31st NFL team (Carr became the only quarterback in NFL history to lose to those many teams), the Saints quarterback set the record straight with Michael Thomas. The wide receiver’s scything comments before and during the Carolina Panthers game caught a lot of heat, and everyone was waiting for a response from Carr.

After the game, the reporters asked the veteran quarterback for his opinion on Thomas accusing him of letting the Saints team down and sending Chris Olave to the medical bay. Carr politely replied that Thomas, currently a free agent, is the first teammate he never managed to be on the same page no matter how much he tried to reconcile.

I don’t know what I did to him; I don’t know why he feels that way. I’m sorry for whatever he’s dealing with to make him feel like he’s got to do that. But he’s never called me during any of this. My phone number has never changed; I’ve, in fact, called him on many different occasions.

Derek Carr said

The Pro Bowler finished his monologue by wishing Thomas good luck at finding a team.

Reporters further asked Carr to describe the pass to Olave in the first quarter.

It was single-high; the ball went to where we talked about it going, and Chris got hit in the head, unfortunately. That happens in our game, and I would never do it on purpose. I didn’t throw him into a bad look.

On 1st and 10, Carr threw a high ball that went through the 24-year-old’s hands, and then a couple of Panthers defenders sandwiched him to the ground. Olave stayed motionless, and the medical team carted him away.

Right after the collision, Michael Thomas attacked Carr on social media.

They fired all them coaches trying to cover his flaws up he still doing the same s**t.

This was Olave’s third concussion this campaign alone. During his first two years in New Orleans, he had two, and before that in college while playing for Ohio State (2020).

The Saints began the season with a couple of shutouts. It led many to believe that Saints were the real deal, but that was a false promise. Including the Panthers’ loss, the Saints have now lost seven games in a row in 2024 (longest active losing streak). Saints defensive end Cam Jordan apologized to their fans.

We just lost to the panthers… I love y’all; New Orleans truly had higher expectations and the best of hopes for us; y’all deserve it.

Carr and the Saints are more than likely out of the playoff race. They need to win all the remaining eight games to even think about football beyond January this season.
