If someone messes with Derek Carr, then he will answer back. On Sunday, he already dealt the killer blow to the Carolina Panthers after throwing 15 passes and over 160 yards and helped running back Alvin Kamara open his account for the season, even before the third quarter ended.

The New Orleans Saints led 37-10, but some Panthers players did not get the memo and still tried to get in Carr’s head. Fourth-year cornerback Jaycee Horn trash-talked the veteran quarterback and perhaps thought he would get away with it, but Carr fired back.

The 33-year-old gestured 3 fingers at Horn, which meant the 3 touchdown passes (one each to Juwan Johnson, Foster Moreau, and Rashid Shaheed) he threw earlier in the night against the Panthers’ backfield. There’s nothing more humiliating for the defensive backs than the quarterbacks outsmarting them by throwing TDs.

Derek Carr’s reaction to the Saints’ big win over the Panthers

Carr almost took the Saints to a playoff appearance last season. However, a 9-8 finish wasn’t enough as they failed to qualify as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the better head-to-head record.

Now in his second year and already a win on the board against a NFC South rival, Carr seems confident they can build on it and win more games.

I told ya'll when I came here last year that all I want to do is win. If that means throw it ten times or 50 times, I really couldn't care less. I just want to win. That just shows me that we found a way to get in the end zone and found a way to win.
Derek Carr said during the post-game presser

He had special praise for offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who was calling the shots on the night.

I'm going to remind ya'll about everyone loving Klint [Kubiak] and myself right now. He had a great game. Any time you can have a great game in this league coaching or playing, you'll remember it forever. He had a great day.

The Saints had 5 different scorers in the game, including Shaheed and Kamara, but Chris Olave barely saw the ball and finished with only 2 catches for 11 yards. Shaheed caught 3 for 73 yards and 1 touchdown, while Alvin Kamara rushed 15 times for 83 yards and 1 rushing touchdown, sharing the ground with Jamaal Williams, who had 11 carries for 38 yards and 1 touchdown. Up next, they will travel to Arlington and play the Dallas Cowboys, who defeated the Cleveland Browns in the earlier kickoff.
