Yoshinobu Yamamoto once again dominated from the mound. In Game 2 of the World Series, the Japanese international threw another complete game. After the game, former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter was mocked on social media for his incorrect prediction on Yamamoto.

Yamamoto stunned the baseball fandom with a performance against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series. After giving up a home run on the very first pitch, the right-hander got locked in.

He would give up just 2 more hits and pick up 7 strikeouts while throwing a complete game. This turned out to be the first complete game thrown by a pitcher in the MLB postseason since 2017. Justin Verlander was the last one to throw one in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the New York Yankees.

After the game, Derek Jeter dropped a bold claim. The now Fox Sports analyst expressed that the 27-year-old will not throw another complete game.

Yamamoto threw a complete game. He’s not gonna throw one tomorrow night. He’s not.

A clip of this take from Jeter would go viral on Sunday after Game 2 of the World Series, after Yamamoto threw another complete game.

With his team 1-0 down in the series, the pitcher dominated once again from the mound. While giving up 4 hits and picking up 8 strikeouts, Yamamoto threw another complete game. His 2nd successive complete game saw the Dodgers win Game 2 with a 5-1 score and level the series at 1-1.

Yamamoto became the first pitcher since Curt Schilling in 2001 to throw back-to-back complete games in the same postseason and the first Dodger since Orel Hershiser in 1988. The last pitcher to have multiple complete games in the same postseason was Madison Bumgarner in 2014 with the San Francisco Giants.

Following his heroics, a take of Derek Jeter went viral. The former New York Yankees captain got trolled on social media as his take regarding him went wrong. One user on X threw a shade at the 5-time World Series winner and wrote, “He’s a Dodger hater.”

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

This is not the first time that Jeter has received flak for his take. In July, he found himself getting trolled after he picked his former club, the New York Yankees, to win the World Series over the Chicago Cubs this year.

After the game, the pitcher received a hero’s welcome in the dugout. A few members of the team would bow their heads in respect to him. Roki Sasaki got down on his knees and bowed down to his international teammate after his solid outing.

The Dodgers are now at home for 3 games. The reigning champions will have Tyler Glasnow on the mound for Game 3. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, have handed former Dodgers star Max Scherzer the start in Game 3 on Monday.
