Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley broke the franchise record for most rushing yards in a single game. The 27-year-old from the Bronx also set his career-high with 255 rushing yards including two seventy yards or more touchdown runs.

The New Yorker has set himself alongside Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry in the leading for most rushing yards in the season. Through eleven games, Barkley currently leads the list with 1,392 rushing yards through 223 attempts while Henry is a close second with 1,185 rushing yards.

Saquon Barkley set a new Eagles record with 255 rushing yards in the victory, surpassing LeSean McCoy’s previous mark of 217 yards set in 2013. Averaging an impressive 9.8 yards per carry, Barkley also recorded the largest rushing performance against the Rams, eclipsing DeMarco Murray’s 253-yard game for the Cowboys in 2011.

The running back received widespread acclaim on social media and across the sports media on Monday. Among the praise was a notable shoutout from fellow NFL star, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry.

@saquon GO CRAZY GANGSTA !!

Derrick Henry tweeted enthusiastically, accompanied by several emojis

Derrick Henry, who has formed an explosive attacking duo with Lamar Jackson, and Barkley are on pace to rewrite a long standing record. Both Henry and Barkley can attempt to overcome the Eric Dickerson record for single-season rushing yards set in 1984. They both are potential MVP candidates to end the decade-long quarterback supremacy on the MVP title. Adrian Peterson was the last non-QB to win the coveted prize in 2011.

With that being said, Barkley earlier responded to the MVP buzz sharing his thoughts. The New Yorker expressed that he is thankful for being in the conversation. However, he admitted that Super Bowl is worth more to him than any individual records he might qualify for.

Saquon Barkley’s beastly run is key to Eagles’ hopes to keep the momentum alive

Saquon Barkley has transformed into a beast, showcasing his true potential after leaving an ailing New York Giants franchise. He has created a name for himself so big that fans have warranted the firing of the Giants management who Barkley leave. Furthermore, it does say a lot when the organization is forced to do drug testing after the superhuman antics Barkley pulled a couple of weeks ago.

The Philadelphia Eagles are happy. They are sitting atop the NFC East, more comfortably after the Dallas Cowboys surprisingly defeated the Washington Commanders in Week 12. Through 11 games, the Eagles are 9-2 to the season. Currently rolling on a seven-game winning streak, the Eagles are Super Bowl favorites. They only lost two times, both to NFC South teams, the Bucs and the Falcons.

Last year, around this time, the Eagles were in a better spot than this. They were 10-1, challenging the NFC bye week possibilities. What soon followed was a 5-1 record, killing their chances to win back-to-back division titles.

Although they qualified for the postseason as the top Wild Card team, the Eagles lost their wild card playoffs to Tampa Bay Buccaneers to effectively end their season. The memories of the past season aren’t wiped away from the minds of the fans. Hence, it is important for the Eagles to keep the momentum bleeding into the coming weeks and the postseason.
