Derrick Lewis wants Stipe Miocic
Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis
Derrick Lewis vs Curtis Blaydes just went down at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Lewis, and Derrick Lewis just shocked the world when he knocked down the number 2 heavyweight with a brutal second round knockout.
The insane uppercut knockout made him a legitimate title contender, and soon after his fight, he called out the heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. In the pre-fight interview, Lewis said that he wants to face Alistair Overeem before he retired for good.
The champion is scheduled to face Francis Ngannou for the title and then the winner of that fight is going to face the light-heavyweight G.O.A.T Jon “Bones” Jones, and if Stipe can get past both these opponents then he’ll be considered the best heavyweight of all time for sure.
Lewis can get a piece of Stipe after that, but there are still a few contenders he probably needs to face before he can get his title shot.
Lewis is looking for another title run
Derrick Lewis challenged Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight title back at UFC 230, he lost the fight via a rear-naked choke, and now after putting on such incredible performances and knocking the number 2 heavyweight he wants to make another title run.
Maybe after Jon Jones, he can challenge the champion for the title, but there are a few heavyweights like Alexander Volkov he might need to beat to get his title shot.
