(Video) Trouble in Cleveland? Unhappy Deshaun Watson attacked with heavy boos by Browns fans ahead of Bengals game
Deshaun Watson, drafted 12th overall by Houston Texans in 2017, joined Cleveland Browns in 2022 after signing a five year contract.

After almost four weeks of absence, the Cleveland Browns returned to Huntington Field to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. On return, Nick Chubb and Deshaun Watson had polar opposite welcomes from the stands. While Chubb walked in on cheers, Watson was met with boos.
Through Week 6, the Browns starkly differed from the 2023 season, when they finished second. Chasing their first consecutive playoff season, the Browns started on the wrong foot with three preseason losses. The team is suffering from their worst record in the first six weeks since the 2017 season where they had 16 straight losses to end 0-16.
Deshaun Watson was mercilessly booed by home fans as he walked into the stadium after his name announcement. Watson, brought from Houston Texans in 2022, has apparently not delivered on his promise.
The 29-year-old from Gainesville, Georgia, played six games each in 2022 and 2023. Through six games of the 2024 season, Deshaun Watson has completed 61.3% of his passes with a 76.6 passer rating. Furthermore, the recent injury amid the Bengals game is a cause for concern. The quarterback, seen in tears on the sidelines after being carried off, could have sustained a potential season-ending Achilles injury.

In addition to his poor performances and inability to win matches, there’s the sexual assault allegations as well. Couple of days ago, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ensured that necessary investigations are going on to understand the severity of the player’s actions. The Browns have a ball-and-chain contract with the Georgian. Nevertheless maybe it’s time for Kevin Stefanski to overlook the potentials and spot the underlying issues.
Deshaun Watson facing the heat of the fans
It’s definitely not the entrance Deshaun Watson expected. It’s not a reflection of the team’s poor start, something the Browns fans proved when Chubb walked in later.
The fans are clearly unhappy with the quarterback’s poor stats and unideal image off the field. The recent anguish as noted by some people online should be a reason to bench Deshaun Watson.
When your own team boos you it’s a sign you shouldn’t be the QB much longer

They hate Deshaun, time for change in Cleveland

Some fans are unhappy that this is happening now when his football performances are bad as compared to when his off-field actions came out. However, many of them noted that he got what he deserved.
Sucks that this is for football reasons rather than him being a serial rapist.

I’d like to think he’s being booed for double digit sexual assault lawsuits he’s settled but he’s being booed for being bad at football.

They'd be cheering for this rapist if he was good at football

They all cheered for the rapist, love seeing them get what they deserve

He's earned that.

Meanwhile, some users noted that booing own quarterback is not a good thing to do.
Booing your QB1 AT HOME lol this is why Cleveland will always be Cleveland

If the injury is serious, Deshaun Watson could face yet another lost season. The Browns might turn to backup options again, marking the third consecutive year they’ve done so. Fans’ frustration with Watson could deepen as uncertainty looms.
