The NFL’s latest schedule release for the upcoming season has fans wishing that it were September already! The free agency activity in the off-season has been unpredictable and exciting, to say the least. With that being said, there is a lot to look forward to for fans this season.

The Cleveland Browns will kick off week 1 of their schedule by facing off against the Dallas Cowboys, a game hard to miss for many reasons.

The Week 1 game is important because it happens to mark the debut of Tom Brady in the broadcaster’s box. The seven-time Super Bowl winner’s ten-year contract with FOX Sports will commence this season. Along with the fans who are excited to see Brady’s debut as a commentator, Browns QB Deshaun Watson awaits the day too, although he will be taking the field on that day.

Watson revealed on Quincy Avery’s Lockerverse podcast how excited he is to have Tom Brady commentate on the first game of the Browns’ season.

That's dope as hell, super dope. The GOAT gets to watch, you know. So (I) got no choice but to put on a show.

The September 8th game will mark Watson’s return from a season-ending shoulder injury he sustained in Week 10.

Deshaun Watson is optimistic about the Cleveland Browns season

The $230 million QB for the Browns has a lot of pressure riding on his shoulders this season as he hopes to take the first step to live up to the hype surrounding his name.

The team placed a huge bet on him by offering him a one-of-a-kind contract with all the money guaranteed, but unfortunately, he has yet to live up to the hype. He was unable to play in his first season owing to a suspension by the NFL, and in his second year back, he struggled on the field.

The Cleveland Browns went 6-3 with Deshaun Watson as the QB1, whereas after he went down, the team went 5-3. The final stretch of the team’s season under Watson’s emergency replacement, Joe Flacco, went remarkably well. He led the Browns to a playoff spot and helped the team win 4-1.

Despite their Wild Card round loss to the Texans, Flacco ended up becoming more popular than Watson during his tenure with the team. This year, Watson must perform at all costs, as the stakes have never been higher. This season, The Athletic has put together a 50.2% chance for the Browns to make the playoffs.

With respect to Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut, the former NFL great has been taking pointers from his peers, such as Peyton Manning and Greg Olsen, who have dipped their toes into this avenue and thrived at it.

Realistically, it is hard to expect anything out of Brady; he is going to take a few weeks to get used to his new role, but considering his commitment and determination, he is bound to get good at his new role in a few weeks.
