Ever since Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders and they started approaching teams across the league, it has become a widely discussed topic. With the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers as the top landing spots for him, he appeared to have gotten an interesting offer from the latter– from DeShon Elliott in particular.
The Jets were previously the most-anticipated team to acquire the veteran wide receiver, but since they suddenly fired head coach Robert Saleh, their trade plans aren’t the priority anymore. This leaves the Steelers and they sure aren’t wasting any time in pitching a proposal to the All-Pro wide receiver.
During the recent episode of The Sick Podcast, the Steelers’ safety Elliott made a tempting offer to Adams while making a case for him to join the Steelers. The season is going quite well for the Steelers compared to their previous season’s records, adding a wide receiver like Adams might make them a Super Bowl contender.
“I’d like him to be a Steeler. That would help us a lot,” said Elliott, addressing Adams’ trade speculations.
The Raiders acquired Adams from the Green Bay Packers in 2022 with high hopes, however around the same time their quarterback room inconsistency began which restricted the six-time Pro Bowler from making an impact. As the saga continues, he is looking for a fresh start and Las Vegas agrees as well.
Jets still pursuing Davante Adams despite Robert Saleh’s departure
Just because the Jets no longer have Saleh doesn’t mean they are not interested in pursuing the star wide receiver– who is also interested in reuniting with his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Jets are “still having conversations” with the Raiders regarding the trade of Adams.
The Raiders are seeking a second-round pick in exchange for the All-Pro wide receiver and they are discussing the trade with the Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Buffalo Bills. According to Adam Schefter, the Jets and Saints are the top preference of the wide receiver.
Initially, the Kansas City Chiefs, 5-0, were also said to be among the teams to approach the Raiders to acquire Adams but since they happen to be divisional rivals, their chances slimmed down.
