Michael Chandler tried to capitalize on Khamzat Chimaev pricing himself out of a Kickstream, but instead earned fan jibes for trying too hard.

Gearing up for his first real UFC 185-pound title shot for this month’s UFC 319 PPV, Khamzat Chimaev got an exciting offer. However, this week, the fight fans learned that Chimaev tried to price it too high. Meanwhile, Michael Chandler won’t be making the same mistakes.

Controversially popular Kick streamer Adin Ross wanted a guest appearance from the middleweight title challenger. However, ‘Borz’ made the asking price way too high for his pre-fight media appearances. Ross said he turned down the $700,000 asking price. Lightweight Michael Chandler has made the plea that he won’t go down the same path:

Yo @adinross I’ll do your stream for wayyy less than $700k.

But then, why should his asking price balloon so high? Chimaev will attempt to dethrone become the new champ, something the American fighter didn’t achieve so far in his career. Chandler came very close to getting the crown from Charles Oliveira in his 2022 sophomore PPV title bout. But since then, it’s been a big, fat slump and Chandler is 2-5 in his UFC run so far.

The American fighter did make another attempt to rebound against ‘Do Bronx’, but bearing some hilarious output, it didn’t change much. After that, he dropped another third-round TKO loss at UFC 314 in April to Paddy Pimblett.

While an interesting fighter, Chandler’s failed wait for a PPV prize fight with Conor McGregor drew further ire in the fight world. Hence, while ‘Iron’ wanted to position himself strongly — his offer got the opposite reaction from the MMA fanbase — most billing it as desperate.

Some have respected the ‘hustle’ to always be in the conversation, but some billed it a good takeaway. Most have poked fun that begging Ross was worse than waiting two years and begging for a ‘Mystic Mac’ money fight to happen.

There’s also the fact that he is unbooked and does not have much to talk about. Maybe barring a McGregor matchup at the White House? Now that would be an interesting proposition, but even then, the fallout doesn’t bode well for him.

Conor McGregor poised to beat Michael Chandler easily in White House PPV fight return

Former two-weight champ and UFC superstar Conor McGregor has had a dwindling status in the MMA sphere. Many have well written him off with usual coke-head over-the-top PDAs, weekly nose-blows and chugs at BKFC leading to Presidency talk, a nude scandal, a levy of €248,000 in damages for a Dublin Civil case, and whatnot.

Forever known as a PPV king and a bankable star, it’s not guaranteed ‘The Notorious’ will return anytime soon. He is also one of the most contentious options to let on the America 250 July 4th White House Concept PPV card. But Michael Bisping considers that on a skill-to-skill level, there’s at least one matchup he’ll win for sure: Michael Chandler.

[Of course] he wants to make a comeback. He wants to be on that White House card; Fair play. I respect the fact that he still wants to fight. … Will he still be the same fighter? I very much doubt it. Things move on, simple as that. McGregor’s getting a little bit older…I’d like to see him come back. Him vs. Chandler is an interesting fight 100 percent. [Can be] certainly a fight that I would favor Conor McGregor to win…version of Michael Chandler that we saw against Paddy Pimblett was washed, he was done, he was over the hill, he looked terrible.

A canceled bout with Chandler in 2024 has further soured this dynamic. McGregor was to return for the UFC 303 PPV kickoff media presser, but failed to do so with another leg injury. However, the Irish striker is more often than not projected to win here. Now, if ‘Iron’ wants to avoid this hassle, he also has Terrance McKinney calling him out again after the UFC 317 PPV card.

After Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 319, the next two cards are already forming up. UFC Paris is getting booked. The Qatar Fight Night is a good spot, maybe along with their annual MSG PPV slot in November. After more recently submitting Viacheslav Borshchev, ‘T Wrecks’ can break into the top-15 rankings with a matchup vs. Chandler on either of those cards.
