Despite loving Drake, DeMar DeRozan claims Kendrick Lamar is ‘family’

NBA veteran DeMar DeRozan has been making the headlines lately after being stuck in a feud amongst the finest rappers, Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Notably, DeRozan has recently seemed to appear quite close to Lamar, with him featuring in “Not Like Us” music video, a diss track aimed at Drake. However, DeRozan opened up about the two rappers and clarified quite a few things about the same in a recent interview.
Sean Cunningham of Sacramento’s KTXL interviewed DeRozan about the entire situation. In addition, DeRozan still loves Drake, but his friendship with Lamar dates back a long time, to the point where he considers him “basically family.” Also, it is interesting to note that DeRozan played for Drake’s favorite NBA franchise, the Toronto Raptors.

On the contrary, DeRozan recently sealed a move to the Sacramento Kings in a sign-and-trade deal. This move has evoked a lot of excitement in the Western Conference, making the Kings one of the exciting teams to watch out for ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. DeMar DeRozan ignored Lakers to sign for the Kings in Western Conference
DeMar DeRozan, one of the best players in the Chicago Bulls and NBA, is shifting teams, having signed a three-year contract with the Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Particularly, the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat were also keen on signing the veteran, but he chose the Kings over both.
According to Wojnarowski, the Bulls will obtain Chris Duarte, two second-round picks, and cash, whereas the Kings will trade Harrison Barnes and an unprotected 2031 pick to the San Antonio Spurs. According to Wojnarowski, DeRozan is committed to a three-year contract with Sacramento worth $74 million.
With DeRozan joining the Kings, many fans will expect him to swiftly integrate into the club. Furthermore, DeRozan is an expert scorer who has placed in the top three in Clutch Player of the Year voting for the past two seasons. Following the acquisition of one of the league’s top players, the Kings will face high expectations in the following 2024-25 NBA season.
