The Boston Celtics won their record 18th NBA title this 2023-24 NBA season after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at the TD Garden. Interestingly, this was just their 2nd NBA title since the 2000s with the first one coming in 2008 when the likes of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen teamed up to win it. Notably, Udonis Haslem ranked his top 5 most dominant NBA sides since the 2000s, with the Celtics just making the list despite having 18 NBA titles.
On the NBA on ESPN show, Haslem named his top 5 dominant NBA sides since the 2000s. He ranked the Los Angeles Lakers in 1st position, the Golden State Warriors 2nd, the San Antonio Spurs 3rd, and the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics coming in 4th and 5th, with the Celtics bottom of the list. Haslem made his point as the rankings were based on which franchise won the most NBA titles since the 2000s.
The Lakers have won six titles, the Spurs have won three, the Warriors have won four, and the Celtics have won two. Without a doubt, the Lakers, Warriors, and Spurs deserve a spot on this list. Also, with three title wins and several Finals appearances under their belt, the Heat cemented their place on the list, thus this is just a list of the teams with the most titles won since the 2000s.
Interestingly, one could argue regarding the Celtics’ 5th place spot as with five Finals appearances and one NBA championship won by LeBron James and co over Curry‘s 73-win Warriors in 2016, the Cleveland Cavaliers could also be taken into account. That game was a historic moment in NBA history.
Udonis Haslem revealed how Celtics won their 1st NBA title since 2008
The former Miami Heat star, Udonis Haslem has always been against the Boston Celtics and their players. Before the NBA Finals unfolded, it was no different as Haslem predicted the Mavs to clinch the NBA title over his rivals, the Celtics. However, the Celtics completely dominated the Mavs, 4-1 in the NBA Finals and this made Haslem change his perspective on the Stephen A Smith show.
Haslem claimed on the Stephen A. Smith show that it was the past experiences of pain and losses that led the Celtics to win the championship this time.
They’ve been thrown away and kicked around. So I should have known that Boston was gonna have the habits to win the championship. On the Stephen A. Smith show, Udonis Haslem said
It is important to note that even though the tide of public opinion appears to be shifting in favor of the Celtics, Jayson Tatum, and Co. have endured criticism for a long time. After 2008, the squad had only twice made it to the Finals and had no championship wins, until 2024.
