A lot can happen in one year. For RB Saquon Barkley, he went from being on the roster of the worst team in the NFL to a team playing in the Super Bowl. As the star gears up to play in the first championship game of his career, he made an honest admission.

While answering the media’s questions, Saquon Barkley was asked about his emotions while watching the Super Bowl in 2023. That was the last time Philadelphia was in the championship game and lost by 3 points to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course I was rooting against them. They knocked us out of the playoffs at that time. There’s no part of me that wanted the Eagles to win but it is funny to look back at it now, how I felt, and you know, during that time…to being here with a lot of those guys that were a part of that team to finish the job and get us all a ring.

Saquon Barkley is hungry to win his first title

The New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders would dread to see each other succeed. New Yorkers in particular are brutal, they have a strong affliction towards their hometown sports teams, and Barkley having played for the Giants, picked up that trait from his environment.

However, he now finds himself on the very team he was hoping would lose, and the team he wants to win is the one he has to beat. His fate in the NFL has been nothing short of cinematic so far. As he is just one win away from winning it all, Barkley is hungrier than ever.

He had some words of wisdom for the reigning Super Bowl champions. “Whoever plays us next, good luck.” The Chiefs better hope that their share of good luck for the season has not expired yet because they will need a lot of it to keep Saquon under control. One thing is certain, between a dominant offense and an unpredictable defense, Super Bowl LIX is bound to be a thriller.
