The WNBA this season has seen a major spark which has been lighted by rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Their rivalry has sparked intense debates among fans and analysts on who should clinch the coveted WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

The Chicago Sky ‘Queen of Rebounds’ Angel Reese took to her show, ‘Unapologetically Angel,’ to talk about how she’s so far managed the pressure and being underrated by her critics. It’s fair to say that she’s been able to manage expectations so far and fans are yet to see the best of Reese.

That’s what’s got me to where I am right now, just literally off hustle… I haven’t even been able to tap into who I really am and my potential of being able to be that stretch 4 position, and just being able to be that. So, people also need to give that some grace too. I’m still a rookie; I’m still figuring it out.

The former Louisiana State University star was drafted seventh in the last WNBA draft and like most picks drafted in her position in the past, she has stood out and seen her stock rise. Furthermore, her rivalry with Angel Reese has taken on a new dimension, much more interesting than they experienced when they both made attempts to outshine each other in college. They have drawn eyeballs from a boatload of analysts and fans alike.

Angel Reese opens up about her break from LSU Basketball team

Apparently, Angel Reese isn’t a stranger to speculation and making fans wonder what’s going on behind the scenes. During her days with the LSU Tigers, she became the subject of rumors as to why she was absent from the team’s lineup and has now come to put an end to the speculations.

On her show, she shared the reason behind what transpired as everyone thought it was about her college grades. She disclosed that it was about her mental state at the time and it almost got out of hand after a bust-up with her coach, Kim Mulkey, who then decided it was best she got a break.

I didn’t feel like it was in a good mental space for my own team and myself and just being able to give my best self… Me and Kim Mulkey kind of got into about something [in the Kent State game]… Then after that game me and her had a conversation and we talked about what’s moving forward and it was just best for me to take some time off.

Now she’s on the bigger stage while facing a lot more pressure, thus, it’s fair to say she’s handled her emotions better than she did in the past. Currently, she’s averaging 13.3 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game and she’ll be eager to help the Chicago Sky book a spot in the playoffs in a must-win game tonight against the Los Angeles Sparks.
