Khabib Nurmagomedov used to be under the protection of one Sam Abdulrahim. The Aussie was recently executed in broad daylight in Melbourne. Since the grisly murder, details of Abdulrahim’s underworld life have come to light through reports from The Guardian. It does not look good for “Eagle”, a UFC Hall of Famer and legendary lightweight whose 2024 was not so smooth.

According to a report by mma.metarating.ru/MASH, Nurmagomedov reportedly owed $3.3 million to the Russian Federal Agency. It’s only recently, last year, that Nurmagomedov paid the $3 million debt levy off and is free. Khabib’s assets were also frozen, and his Eagles MMA gym came under siege due to links with one-time fighter Ghadzimurad Kagirov. Kagirov was KIA in a Russian Anti-terror op, blemishing the former UFC fighter’s legacy. Now, Sam Abdulrahim adds to the mix.

An X account, @Bendaman2001, aka Aussie MMA journo Benny P., went online to share reports of Abdulrahim’s death and his photo with Nurmagomedov. During his trip to Malaysia in late 2024, ‘The Eagle’ employed the services of one of Australia’s most wanted men. The former UFC fighter was visible in media with Abdulrahim, who was then his bodyguard. Whether or not Khabib knew of Sam Abdulrahim’s now-public indiscretions is another thing.

Abdulrahim, who went by the name ‘The Punisher’, was also a keen boxer. His IG handle is full of highlights from his 8-0 pro tenure. Sam Abdulrahim’s terror-filled past does not bode well for Khabib Nurmagomedov. Kudos to whoever is masking the reports from one Conor McGregor; expect the fireworks to go off soon if he catches wind.

Notorious ‘Fact’ Check: Conor McGregor backed by political strategist following racist ‘N-word’ nuke on Khabib

Sam Abdulrahim landed in Melbourne on Monday with a $2 million price tag. The city’s most hunted gangland figure was found dead in a hotel car at 10 am on Tuesday. It’s a scene in which media scrum reports nothing short of harrowing and proper execution. Let “The Notorious” not get a hold of those details. As it is, McGregor does not have a high opinion of Team Khabib. Let’s not add gangland warfare to a whole region that he derogatorily labels as “incels” in the making.

After PFL’s Champions Series: Road to Dubai (Series 6) event, McGregor has been going scorched earth on Khabib Nurmagomedov and family. Nurmagomedov, retired from UFC, now corners friends and family, and was a champion-cornerman at Road to Dubai. He struck up some moniker of respect with Irishman Paul Hughes after the fight. McGregor wilded up with rage and has been digging up the oldest skeletons to diss him.

One of those has been a serious “N-word” bomb; a strict no-no. The Irish UFC star, known for his brash “Notorious” notoriety, received unexpected support from political strategist RC Maxwell. He defended his racial slur and rejected attempts to “revoke” him. McGregor, always on a warpath with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, embraced the support.

Maxwell’s remarks prompted further discussion, suggesting that McGregor has earned a pass for his language through past associations. McGregor’s response, and the public’s reaction, will shape the fallout. Discussions around race, privilege, and sports culture do not dumb down that easily.
