The Detroit Lions have almost everything going for them this season. Jared Goff is playing efficient lights-out football, the rest of the offense, defense, and special teams are playing at a high level. That sent them to 6-1 despite losing Aidan Hutchinson for the season. But it could all go to waste if the likes of Jameson Williams and others lose focus.

Williams in particular, has already missed two games due to a league-enforced suspension stemming from his PED use. But earlier today, 7 News Detroit released information about a possible arrest the wideout was a part of a couple of weeks before his suspension.

A Detroit police patrol officer pulled over Jameson Williams and his brother for speeding. During their conversation, they informed the officer that they had two guns inside their car. One of them was in the back seat, which was registered to Williams’ brother. While the other gun was under the Lions star’s seat.

Williams’ brother possesses a concealed pistol license or CPL. Whereas the former Alabama star did not, even though the gun under his seat was registered to him. The patrol officer proceeded to put the star in cuffs and place him in the back of his patrol car.

The wideout tried to suggest that he was a high-profile person as he plays for the Detroit Lions. This prompted the patrol officer to request the assistance of a supervisor, as is normal with a high-profile stop. But this supervisor, or rather sergeant, turned out to be a Lions fan.

He made some calls to higher-ranking officials and eventually let the third-year player star go. But it had a domino effect on the Detroit police department. As such, an offense means Williams should have spent time behind bars.

The aftermath is that Now Detroit Police Chief James White has ordered an investigation. As per Detroit Police Commander Michael McGinnis, the initial patrol officer did his part. However, the actions of the supervising sergeant have forced the department to review.

(Chief James White) was very unhappy about the totality of the circumstances here. Even to go so far as to say he was pissed off. I want to know if the fact that this individual was a Detroit Lions player, did that play a factor in the decision making?

7 News Detroit also revealed that Detroit police have submitted a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. If approved, they could charge Jameson Williams with possession of a concealed weapon. His team is aware, and he has hired a lawyer.
