Devin Haney isn’t impressed with YouTubers storming into the world of Boxing
Devin Haney, the 22-year-old undefeated WBC lightweight champion feels that YouTubers jumping into taking up boxing is quite over the top. His reaction comes in the wake of Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather taking on each other in a boxing match on the 20th of February, next year.
Interacting with fans on Instagram Live, the 25-0 Boxer from San Francisco, spoke about how unfair it was for real boxers who grind day in, day out, but make money which is nowhere near the amount the YouTubers taking up boxing have been making. He also vowed to never fight in a YouTuber undercard again.
“I do feel like YouTubers are coming into the sport of boxing and they making way more money” – Devin Haney
Haney gave his opinion on a lot of YouTubers taking up boxing, with reference to the Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather fight. He was quoted as saying :
“Yea I mean, I do feel like YouTubers are coming into the sport of boxing and they making way more money than people who actually like, been grinding, training, sacrificing their whole life. And they never get the opportunity to fight on the big stage. And the YouTubers they come, get knocked out or they win and whatever, and then they go back to doing YouTube or on to the next thing. That’s what I don’t like. But, it is what it is.“
Haney also decided to never fight again in a YouTuber undercard. Speaking of which he said, “A mistake that I made was fighting on the undercard of two YouTubers. I would never do that again. I would never even disrespect myself like that.”
What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree with Devin Haney?
