Micah Parsons is back in the headlines once again, days after undergoing surgery on his torn ACL. Parsons, who moved from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in the offseason, welcomed his friend and ex-Cowboy, Trevon Diggs, to the Packers after he was released.
According to reports from the Cowboys’ facility, owner and general manager Jerry Jones cut Diggs from the team after he refused to comply with the coaches’ instructions last week. The Cowboys had just defeated the Commanders, and Diggs wanted to stay in Washington to celebrate Christmas with his family instead of flying back with the team to Dallas.
Despite the coach’s warnings, the All-Pro cornerback stayed in the nation’s capital. He was waived not long after, and the Packers swooped in to claim him before anyone else.
A massive uproar erupted on social media. The Cowboys fans were already angry about the abysmal year, and now they had to deal with the loss of another crucial player.
Cowboys content creator Dan Rogers posted a tweet in support of the move. The tweet showed Diggs’ decreasing PFF (Pro Football Focus) ratings. Parsons came to his friend’s defense. He viewed the tweet as an attempt to tarnish the credentials of an athlete who’s no longer even with the Cowboys.
I feel like what point is there in trying to publicly disrespect someone? He’s not representing the star anymore, just give the man a farewell and wish him the best. I don’t know why everything has to be negative every time a break-up happens! He’s in a better situation rn, trust… https://t.co/rvzlgmPj8M

Dez Bryant comes to Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs’ aide
Parsons understands the feeling of being on the receiving end of a fanbase’s wrath. He went through the same after his trade ahead of the season. It happened after Jones declined to include Parsons’ agent in the negotiations. He became the highest-paid non-quarterback with the Packers.

In return, Parsons helped the Packers reach the playoffs. The Cowboys fans felt betrayed by one of their own. Seeing him celebrate Diggs’ move sparked even more outrage, which Parsons couldn’t ignore. He accused Jones of “slander” after he signed with the Green Bay franchise.
Y’all want me to feel bad? Jerry Jones slandered my name to Cowboys media and national media for months. So I do think I can react to comment if I want to! #respectfully

Diggs’ circumstances may be different, but the outcome is the same as Parsons’. So, the Cowboys fans venting their anger also makes sense. However, former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant didn’t like where the anger was being directed.
Bryant shared his experience with Jones as evidence of the 83-year-old’s sharp negotiation skills. He argued that players employ agents because they aren’t versed in the intricacies of language used in contracts.
Micah’s representative stepped in because he knows his client is not equipped with the knowledge to sit there and negotiate a contract with Jerry. Jerry knows that. We only know what we know.

It’s a simple process. The agent does the paperwork and negotiates the best deal while the player works his magic on the gridiron. Jones prefers the old-school method of talking directly with the player and doesn’t see much importance in having an agent around.
Ironically, he has to deal with the same agent once again. David Mulugheta also represents wide receiver George Pickens, who has racked up 1,420 receiving yards on 92 catches and scored 9 touchdowns in 16 games since joining the Cowboys in the offseason.
Pickens’ contract ends once the season concludes, and he will enter free agency unless Jones ties him down to a lengthy contract. If Jones handles Pickens the same as Parsons, then the Cowboys might lose another valuable asset.
