The Dallas Cowboys have elevated Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator to the head coaching position after they parted ways with Mike McCarthy following a disappointing season. The personnel change hasn’t been well received as fans have ripped into the management.
Dez Bryant, a former Dallas Cowboys player, has also expressed his views on the recent move by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Bryant, who played in Texas from 2011 to 2017, joins the ranks of many fans whom the management have angered with their decision.
Dez Bryant took it to X where he broke his silence on the matter with a blunt five response. “Somebody is getting sabotaged. Smh,” Bryant wrote.

Smh
Schottenheimer, who spent the last three years with the Cowboys organization and the past two seasons as their offensive coordinator, played a key role in helping Dallas become a top-five offense and the No. 1 scoring team in 2023. Despite these accomplishments, Schottenheimer was not widely seen as a top coaching candidate and wasn’t expected to land a head coaching job this offseason—making his hire one of the most surprising moves of the season.
Bryant had been one of the most vocal voices in calling for Deion Sanders as the new head coach of the failing America’s Team. However, it seems that Sanders will remain in Colorado Buffaloes another year before he potentially makes a move to the NFL where he has an opportunity to coach Shedeur Sanders once again. He recently made comments on what’s the winning formula for the Cowboys who haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1994.
“Until Dallas focuses on winning instead of politics, Cowboy fans should not expect success soon,” Bryant admitted in a post on January 12th.
Dan Quinn turned a once-struggling franchise into a playoff contender and won his first playoff game…Until Dallas focuses on winning instead of politics..Cowboy fans should not expect success soon…I'm telling you this straightforwardly.., just as I always do…

Brian Schottenheimer has a salary cap issue ahead of the first season in charge
Dan Orlovsky offered a grim assessment of the Cowboys’ salary cap situation, particularly concerning quarterback Dak Prescott. Following their surprising decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas faces a pivotal 2025 season.
With limited financial flexibility, retaining key players and making significant improvements could prove to be one of the biggest initial roadblocks for Schottenheimer.

Executive Vice President Stephen Jones recently announced, via Marca, that the organization plans to renegotiate Dak Prescott’s contract to create cap space for other roster needs. Heading into the offseason, Dallas faces several areas requiring attention.
The offensive line is no longer the dominant unit it was in the early 2020s, while the defense, which took a step back last season, could benefit from adding another tackle. Additionally, the offense is in dire need of another playmaker.
