Dhrubo Banerjee’s next venture ‘Golondaaz’ creates immense hype amidst football crazed Bengalis

Football and Bengalis go hand in hand. If there’s any state in India wherein the passion and love for football surpasses that if cricket – it’s Bengal. Bengalis have always been passionate about their game and hence its no doubt that they have two of Asia’s oldest clubs Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC.

The movie will star Bengali hero Dev who will be returning to SVF Productions after 2017 where he starred in the hit movie Amazon Obhijaan. The film will also have Anirban Bhattacharya who’s another known name in West Bengal industry.

Dhrubo Banerjee the director is extremely excited about this new venture of his – I  have been trying to rediscover the lost pride in Bengalis. People know about the Bengali renaissance but are not aware of the contribution of this man. He is completely forgotten. My film is not a biopic but a means of creating a movie based on Nagendra and the times. Every Bengali must know about him. The present generation does not know much about Sarbadhikary.

How he introduced the game and popularized it among Bengalis. My movie will weave the tale with references from real-life events,” he further said.

The movie will hit the theatres on August 13th and will celebrate the emotions of independence. Dev will be seen as the radical, open-minded and prolific athlete who was responsible for introducing the concept of football among the people of India.
