India created history and clinched the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title in style. Meanwhile, India young wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel, who is currently in Zimbabwe for the five match T20I series, stated how his reverse jinx helped India win the T20 World Cup 2024.

Jurel said that he was rooting for India in the initial stages of the game against South Africa. However, India was slowly slipping into a bad position and was set to lose the game. So, he shifted his support to South Africa and miraculously, South Africa managed to bottle it, resulting in India’s miraculous win.

When I was rooting for India, South Africa was ahead. So I decided to back South Africa instead and India started winning.

Jurel’s jinx during the T20 World Cup 2024 worked wonders. South Africa were cruising at one stage as they needed 30 runs to win off 30 balls. Heinrich Klaasen who was firing with his bat was at one end and David Miller was at the other end. However, the Proteas then stumbled and lost the game by 7 runs.

Dhruv Jurel was sensational for India after he made his international debut in the home Test series against England. He played for the first time in whites in the third Test in Rajkot. Jurel came up with Man of the Match performance to help India win that game.

He also showed his worth as a wicket-keeper as he was brilliant while keeping against the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin. India had struggled with the wicketkeeper spot after Pant was out with an injury. Jurel came up as a worthy replacement.

Jurel will now be hoping to perform in the T20I series against Zimbabwe and cement his spot in the T20I setup for India.
