Caitlin Clark, the college basketball superstar sadly fell to the Gamecocks in the national championship game following the redemption game against LSU. Clark took the college basketball world by storm. The 22-year-old had the majority of the basketball audience hooked on women’s college basketball more than the men’s.

Her dominance in college basketball has been historic, though as the chapter of her collegiate level closes, Clark will look to prepare for the WNBA. As the projected number-one pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, veterans have an eye on her as the league welcomes the next superstar. Diana Taurasi, the three-time champion commented on Clark’s arrival and how the transition from college to WNBA might take some time to adjust.

The reality is coming. There's levels to this thing. And that's just life we all went through it... You look superhuman playing against 18-year-olds, but you're going to come with some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time. Not saying that's not gonna translate, cause when you're great at what you do, you're just gonna get better. But there's gonna be a transition period.

When one looks at the NBA side of the same, one sees rookies go through similar phases. In recent years out of all rookies, we’ve seen Luka Doncic become a superstar in his rookie season. At the same time, others did take time to adjust. With Clark, she is the most hyped prospect to play in the WNBA. Fans on the internet did not side with Taurasi following this take, as they believed she did not understand Clark’s magnitude of upcoming success.

With Clark’s dominance, fans cannot wait for her debut. While her college numbers are out of the ordinary and have never been seen in recent years, coming into the professional league, there are chances Clark will need to adjust to the pace as well as the type of game that’s played.

Taurasi did give some valid points as to why rookies take some time to get used to the league. However, some exceptions do make an immediate impact. Fans on the internet believe that exception to be Caitlin Clark. Here are some of the reactions:

The 2024 WNBA Draft is scheduled for next week. With Clark becoming the number-one pick, the Indiana Fevers are expected to land the upcoming rookie.
