Now, in a recently released Amazon 3-part docuseries, Taurasi reveals the ins and outs of her historic career, including the controversy involving Clark and the Team USA selection. The WNBA legend kept it real regarding her selection for Team USA at the Paris Olympics.

To be honest, I never even really thought about it. I always felt like I deserved to be on the team because it was my team for 20 years and I know how to get the job done.

It’s also important to note that Taurasi did not play as much as she expected during the Paris Olympics. She was also benched for the gold medal game, which left her upset. Taurasi also opened up on this matter in the Amazon docuseries. Notably, the WNBA legend participated in the first five Paris games, playing a total of 55 minutes.

She did not, however, participate in the gold medal match versus France. In a fiercely contested match, Team USA defeated Team France 67-66. In the end, Taurasi won her sixth gold medal at the Olympics. In the history of the Olympics, Taurasi has won the most gold medals in basketball.

The retired star made her debut for the U.S. squad at the 2004 Athens games. She then performed in Paris, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2008, and London 2012. Taurasi is an all-time great for her nation and will be etched in the history of the sport for her contributions, regardless.

Diana Taurasi did not hold back her feelings regarding the WNBA salaries

Player salaries and annual earnings are one of the hottest topics in the WNBA right now. Many believe that the WNBA stars deserve a rise in their salaries due to their performances and new brand deals they are getting.

Notably, the retired WNBA legend Diana Taurasi recently chimed in on her Amazon Docuseries regarding the wages being less in the USA. This also caught the WNBA community’s attention in the process. Taurasi made a scathing remark regarding this matter.

I’m the best player in the world, and I have to go to a communist country to get paid like a capitalist… So, the generational wealth was coming from going to Russia every year. Now, we have to come back and get paid nothing to play in a harder league in worse conditions against the best competition in the world…. The f***ing janitor at the arena made more than me.

Diana Taurasi makes an interesting case regarding Caitlin Clark’s Nike shoe deal

The WNBA legend Diana Taurasi’s resume speaks for itself. When she speaks, the WNBA community well and truly pays attention. Most recently, she spoke on an interesting topic involving the Indiana Fever star, Caitlin Clark. Taurasi was asked who should get the next signature sneaker from the league. Without pausing, Taurasi gestured to the stardom of the Indiana Fever.

Oh, Caitlin, of course. Yeah, I mean, I know she has some PEs, little colorways, but you can do that on Nike ID. I mean, the next Caitlin shoe should be the next one and you know my kids will be wearing it.

This endorsement coincides with Clark’s second professional season, during which she has only played 13 games thus far because of injuries. The Fever star has been good whenever on the court for her side, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals.

In April 2024, Clark agreed to a $28 million, eight-year contract with Nike. However, her signature shoe line has yet to release, increasing the fans’ anticipation.
