Shannon Sharpe in altercation with Grizzlies

Shannon Sharpe, the former NFL player appeared to have been involved in an altercation in a game between Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Lakers. Shannon went against Tee Morant and the whole Grizzlies squad on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena. When the brawl erupted just before halftime, Sharpe was watching the game from the courtside. As they proceeded to leave the court for the locker rooms, Sharpe was seen talking with Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. But before both Dillion and Ja reached the tunnel, chaos broke out.

Sharpe told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that, the fight started after Sharpe told Brooks he “was too small to guard LeBron [James].”  Security jumped in to try to hold back nearly the whole Grizzlies bench as they suddenly ran at Sharpe. Steven Adams and the other Memphis players took offense to what Shannon had to say about Brooks. Morant Sr. was also involved in the altercation. After the security guard stopped them and led them to different ways, both courtside celebrities went back to their seats.

Grizzlies lost the game after Dennis Schroder stole the ball in the last seconds to give the Lakers, a much-needed victory. Already upset with the unfortunate loss, Brooks refused to answer questions regarding Sharpe. “I ain’t talking about that. You can ask him. He’s the blogger or whatever he is. I don’t really care about all that. Next question,” Brooks said of Shannon Sharpe, via McMenamin. The Grizzlies player also added that Shannon should not be allowed into the arena after the altercation. He also called Sharpe “a regular-season pedestrian”. “A regular pedestrian like him? No. He should have never come back in the game, but it’s LA,” he said.

After the altercation, Sharpe said that the Grizzlies were soft and didn’t want his smoke. He also informed that he only said to Brooks that he was not strong and big enough to guard James. “They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” Sharpe told ESPN. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron,” Shannon said. He also added that there was also an exchange of swear words between the two and the Grizzlies player even came at him. “He said, ‘F***’ me. I said, ‘F*** you’ back. He started to come at me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems,’” Sharpe cleared.

The NBA and NFL analyst is himself heavily built and could certainly hold his ground. He added that even Ja and Tee Morant came at him. The Lakers won the game against the Grizzlies 122-121. James scored 23 points, but he had a bad game from the field. The biggest shot of the game, however, came from Schroder, who stole the ball from Morant and made an “and-1” to win the game for the Lakers.
