The San Antonio Spurs have opened their account of the 2024-25 NBA season with a much-needed win in their second matchup. After losing their first game, Spurs stars Victor Wembanyama, Jeremey Sochan, and Chris Paul made sure to get the win this time around against the Houston Rockets. However, it was Rockets’ Dillon Brooks that caught the NBA community’s attention along with Wemby.
Rockets aggressor Brooks and Wembanyama battled for a loose ball with 9:30 left in the third quarter, dragging each other to the ground. Brooks kept pulling on the Spurs’ 7-foot-4 center by forcefully bear-hugging him from behind. Meanwhile, Wemby, sitting in the middle of the paint, managed to get a better hold of the basketball.
Spurs teammates Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes, and Jeremy Sochan all rushed to Wemby’s defense after taking issue at Brooks’ excessive aggression. In addition, Brooks received a technical foul for his aggressive behavior. However, the fans were not surprised as Brooks is known for this type of character over the years.

Paul’s addition to the team is solely to help and nurture their young star, Wembanyama. With Paul’s experience, the Spurs hope to perform at their best throughout this season.

Notably, it was the tussle between Spurs star Victor Wembanyama and Rockets star Dillon Brooks that gathered widespread attention from NBA fans. Regarding this, NBA veteran and Spurs player Chris Paul shared his views on the tussle.
Chris Paul says there was nothing to see when Dillon Brooks was rolling around on the floor with Wemby: "I'm just saying y'all done seen a lot worse. Steve Nash ran into the doggone scorer's table, right? They bleeding and all that stuff…Come on man. We are NBA players."
