Usually, the NFL media would not be focusing so much on the Cleveland Browns with the season they are having. Instead, the QB battle involving rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders has garnered a lot of attention.

Ever since the draft was over, fans have been calling for the team to start the Colorado star. However, they went with what they believed was the best solution for their franchise and started Joe Flacco.

After four games, that experiment is over, as the team announced that Gabriel would be taking over as the starter. Naturally, this would lead to conversations surrounding Sanders.

When his fellow rookie QB was asked about it, he did not utter a word. Instead, all Shedeur Sanders did was to react in ‘mime’ language. He was all smiles during that viral interview, but his lack of words seemed to spark a media storm.

Since then, two sides have been debating how they feel about this interview. On one hand, some believe Sanders has dug himself into a hole with these interviews.

On the other hand, others believe the 23-year-old is justified in trying to make his case to be the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. When Mary Kay Cabot caught up with Dillon Gabriel, she asked him about Sanders’ pantomime interview.

For me, we’re a team. We do this as a unit… We can only control what we can control. I don’t want to speak for anyone in particular.

Dillon Gabriel replied

This answer was as diplomatic and professional as he could get. Dillon Gabriel knew anything he said otherwise would add more fuel to the flames that had been engulfing the team.

Adam Schefter reveals real reason for Shedeur Sanders’ ‘mime’ interview response

Conversations surrounding Shedeur Sanders have been the mainstay of NFL media ever since he declared for the draft. After his ‘mime’ interview became the center of attention, ESPN’s insider Adam Schefter believes the rookie QB was responding to a particular person.

A lot of people are probably unaware that Rex Ryan ripped him, and he’s responding to Rex Ryan. So people see this clip, and they say, ‘what is this guy doing here?’ without realizing the actual context to it.

The insider believes that people do not have the real context as to why Sanders gave the interview in pantomime language. He was responding to Rex Ryan‘s recent criticism on the same show.

However, since the QB happens to be the son of the great Deion Sanders, anything he says or does happens to blow up. On that note, a former league MVP believes that is why the Browns QB is in the situation that he is in.

Cam Newton claims Shedeur Sanders’ antics prove teams did not want to draft him

In the midst of this drama, questions have come up about Shedeur Sanders’ mindset. Former league MVP Cam Newton believes such actions are why teams were hesitant to pick the Colorado QB in this year’s draft.

You are entitled to be whoever you want to be. But just remember this, and this also goes to Coach Prime. Everything that we have seen in the last 3 weeks, is some of the reason why teams did not want Shedeur Sanders.

Cam Newton said on First Take

The ESPN analyst clarified that he wants the rookie to succeed, as do many people. However, this media circus around him is a distraction, and he believes it was the reason the QB fell to the 5th round.

Newton asked if all of this was necessary, especially when the team is struggling to win games. He believes this drama is focused on Sanders, and that is not what the team would have wanted.
