As the Buffalo Sabres hosted the New York Rangers on Wednesday at the KeyBank center, they had a special guest in attendance. Buffalo Bills linesman Dion Dawkins was among the crowd to get a taste of this game. An incident between Vincent Trocheck and Nicolas Aube-Kubel later left him hyped up.
With the Rangers leading 1-0 in the first period, the found themselves on the attack again. As Trocheck went near to get to the puck, he received a reverse elbow from Aube-Kubel, who tried to block off his opponent.
The Rangers star did not like this hit and quickly got up to his feet. He would then drop his gloves and get into a fight with Aube-Kubel.
The two NHLers would shove each other first before exchanging some quick punches at each other. All of this unfolded close to where Dawkins was sitting. A few moments later, the two of them would topple down on the ice.
With Trocheck falling down first, he seemingly lost this bout. The fans in attendance were hyped up after this altercation between the two players. As for Dawkins, who had a front-row seat, he was seen jumping up and down in excitement while banging his hand on the protective glass wall.

Sabres HC Lindy Ruff comments on team’s eight consecutive losses
The Buffalo Sabres are not in a good position at the moment. The loss against the New York Rangers made it eight losses in a row for them. After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff spoke on this run of form and why he benched some players.
Huff benched Owen Power and JJ Peterka in the game. When asked about this, the veteran coach claimed the players turned the puck over several times, hence their ice time was reduced.
The Sabres, who will now embark on a three-game road trip, had a long home-stand. However, they failed to win any of those games. Ruff did admit that this poor home stand was “crazy“.

The Sabres are left with an 11-14-4 record after the loss against a struggling Rangers side. A loss on Saturday against the in-form Washington Capitals could put more pressure on the shoulders of the Ruff.
