Diontae Johnson fell down the pecking order at the Baltimore Ravens and eventually ended up getting waived by the organization. Three teams in twelve months decided that they did not want Johnson anywhere near their facility.
The 28-year-old began the year with the Pittsburgh Steelers before they traded him to the Carolina Panthers for DB Donte Jackson in March. Johnson looked to be at home in Carolina, but a string of losses ticked him off. He wanted to play for a playoff-level team.
The Panthers listened to his wishes and traded him to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2025 sixth-round pick. Johnson played four games in Baltimore but only managed just one catch from five targets.
The relationship between Johnson and head coach John Harbaugh deteriorated so much that even though the Ravens were short on receivers while playing the Philadelphia Eagles, Harbaugh refused to play the Pro Bowler.
On Friday, December 20, the Ravens announced that they had waived Diontae Johnson from the team after they failed to find a trade partner.

How did social media react to the Baltimore Ravens releasing Diontae Johnson?
Johnson made a name for himself after posting 107 catches, 1161 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 2021 for the Steelers. The franchise thought they had found the successor to Antonio Brown, but they were wrong. Off-field shenanigans painted a bad picture of the former third-round pick, and Mike Tomlin did not tolerate him for too long.

At Carolina, he began to nag the coaching staff to trade him because he felt the team was not good enough for him. In Baltimore, the situation was much different because he had to beat out players like Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and a few others. It proved a difficult task, and now he is no longer part of the team.
This dude is a disaster. Just ask Tomlin! He’s seen his fair share

No other way around it: Diontae Johnson lit millions on fire. Was set to be a top-25 free agent before the issues in Baltimore.

Was blowing leaves when the Diontae Johnson news broke. Appropriate given the money he’s blown into the wind this year.

Diontae Johnson is officially the worst trade in Ravens history https://t.co/SxhM21ce6W

Diontae Johnson has quit on, and has been given up on, by every team he has played with. What makes people think he’s going to come back to the Steelers and suddenly be reformed? He’s a bad apple. He’d kill the Steelers. For what? Maybe 3 catches for 21 yards?

So Diontae Johnson must have been another massive locker room problem in Pittsburgh that Coach Tomlin was SOMEHOW able to keep calm until enough was eventually enough

Now that he left Pittsburgh it seems the wheels have fallen off
Omar: “hey we’re thinking about bringing in Diontae Johnson.”

What a saga. Can’t think of anyone that has tanked their value like they have in a contract year than Diontae Johnson. https://t.co/8iIpd3hhp5

It says something about you if 3 different teams, including 2 teams that despise each other, all say “Here, just take him” https://t.co/LoI6iNU5Tt

Obviously it’s like his career has gone backwards since he left Pittsburgh.

There’s a joke here but I’m not getting into that. https://t.co/7PKEL2dxOv
