One of the main names of the 2023-24 NBA season is the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic. The player has shown his incredible talent and skills throughout this entire season to take his team to the next level. The Slovenian is on his way to being one of the greatest players in the franchise’s history.

However, the original face of the organization is not very happy about it. While appearing on ESPN’s broadcast of the Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat game Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki was asked about his feelings on Doncic’s potential by Kevin Hart. The veteran jokingly expressed being upset about the 25-year-old’s record-breaking season.

Nowitzki highly praised Luka Doncic‘s offense saying that the player has no defects in that category. The former athlete also expressed being amazed by the young player’s development every year calling him “incredible to watch.” The star wishes that the Mavs fans would get the opportunity to watch him play for an extended amount of time, hoping for Doncic’s long-lasting career.

Doncic has undeniably impressed the NBA world with his unreal run this season. The star has received a place on the NBA’s MVP ladder and has also taken his team to the playoffs this season. However, the guard still has a long way to go to match Nowitzki and possibly go past his records.

Luka Doncic is breaking many records as a Maverick

Nowitzki was not entirely wrong when he said that Doncic was breaking all his records. In just his sixth year, the player is already tying some of the most important records by the Mavericks veteran. In December, Doncic passed Nowitzki to have the most 35-point performances in Mavericks history.

The player is matching up to Nowitzki throughout this season, as just a week ago Doncic tied the old-timer’s record with player of the week honors. Doncic is also writing his name in history by setting records of his own. Recently, the guard broke the franchise’s record for most points in a single season.

Earlier this year, Doncic played the fourth highest-scoring game in NBA history as he scored 73 points. The record naturally became the most points scored in a game by a Maverick. All of this is just the beginning of Doncic’s career. The young athlete still has a lot to achieve and many NBA years in his bag.
