Stephen A. Smith has lately been receiving a lot of heat over his support for former U.S. President Donald Trump when he claimed his legal issues are resonating with the Black voters and bringing in their support. Many of Smith’s friends and colleagues expressed their displeasure with his words, including the renowned ESPN analyst Ryan Clark

For context: During his tenure as President Trump built a controversial image of himself with his racial views as many public and scholars perceive him as ‘racist.’ As he is running in the Presidential elections again, the African-Americans don’t seem to like when Trump tried to make himself relatable to them and their struggle over time.

When Smith was asked about Trump’s newfound connection with the Black folks, he surprisingly sided with the former President. He even defended Trump saying what he said about being relatable isn’t wrong as what is going through now is quite similar to what the Black Americans have been facing for so long.

Though of course, Stephen A. Smith was alone in his stance as being an African-American himself, his loved ones and colleagues were absolutely “pissed” at him. To the extent that the analyst had to apologize for his words, saying it got misconstructed and interpreted totally out of context.

Ryan Clark’s strong disagreement with Stephen A. Smith

One of the prominent names who called out Smith was the former NFL safety, Clark. During the recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, Clark strongly disagreed with Smith’s words from the past week and even went on a rant against the former U.S. President.

I respect Stephen A. and the platform that he’s built, but I respectively disagree with him here. Donald Trump hasn’t been black. He will never be black. He doesn’t understand what it’s like to walk in a black man’s shoes. And if he ever did, he’d realize that those shoes are too big and way too uncomfortable for him to wear for a day.

The sports analyst argued that Trump has never been discriminated against. He’s been investigated because of all those bad decisions he made. Moreover, Clark also addresses the few Black communities supporting Trump, asking them to question the increase of such support and be smart about it.
