Disappointing update on rumored championship match for WWE SummerSlam 2024
The three-way feud involving Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker, and Ilja Dragunov has gained steam ahead of SummerSlam.

Bron Breakker continued his path of destruction as he speared both Ilja Dragunov and Sami Zayn on the latest episode of Raw. Although the other two stars have been on the same page against a common enemy, they also had a tough match, with the Mad Dragon expressing his immense desire to win the title. After an intense buildup, fans are hoping for a triple threat match for the title at SummerSlam.
However, much to fans’ disappointment, that doesn’t seem to be the case for now. According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has no plans to add Ilja Dragunov to the Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam. A Money in the Bank rematch between Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker is set to take place at the summer’s biggest event.
At Money in the Bank, the 26-year-old star got his first opportunity to fight for a title on the main roster. Unfortunately, the Ultimate Underdog pinned him clean after a Helluva Kick. On this week’s Raw, he got angry at Raw GM Adam Pearce for giving the former NXT Champion a chance to fight the champ. Despite his warnings, he appeared in the main event and wreaked havoc on both stars.
Looking at the dynamics between the three stars, it will now be more difficult for him to get a title opportunity. But before that, only time will tell whether Pearce punishes Breakker for his actions in the main event. Even though the 26-year-old star has spent a short amount of time on the main roster, nobody can deny that he is destined for greatness.
Bron Breakker named CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Paul Heyman as his mentors
Bron Breakker has established himself as one of the fastest-rising stars in WWE right now. It is not surprising to witness his success after being mentored by legends like CM Punk and Roman Reigns. Recently, he opened up about the people who influenced him the most in his career on the podcast.
While speaking on the Getting Over podcast, the 26-year-old star said that everybody stepped up to help him whenever he needed it. The former NXT Champion named Punk, Reigns, and Paul Heyman as the ones who took on the role of mentors. Breakker added that he was fortunate enough to be welcomed by everyone with open arms.
Roman Reigns has been really great. Paul Heyman. The locker room has really welcomed me with open arms. Any kind of questions or anything I've had. CM Punk is another one.Bron Breakker via the Getting Over podcast
When he was still in NXT as one-half of the Wolf Dog, he was rumored to be the next Paul Heyman guy. However, in the recently concluded WWE 2024 Draft, the 26-year-old star became a Raw Superstar and has been wreaking havoc ever since.
