The burgeoning trend of incorporating celebrities into WWE programming continued on this week’s Raw. Stand-up comedians Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura attended the red brand taping in Tampa, and they were even featured in a backstage segment. They were interviewed by Cathy Kelley, where she did mention Segura’s critical WWE stance from the past.

The Cincinnati-born actor admitted that he had said some stupid things about pro wrestling. But his perspective took a flip when he and Kreischer were joined by Cody Rhodes on their podcast a few months ago. Segura called it an eye-opening experience. He was then asked about his upcoming comedy special on Netflix, called Bad Thoughts.

Per WrestleVotes, several people within WWE were unhappy over Segura’s appearance. The discourse has solely to do with the inflammatory remarks he made about pro wrestling, where he called those who watch it “retards.” The 46-year-old would even say it’s completely fake and not real competition. Segura quipped that WWE should rephrase its tagline and tell people that it’s for the diminished capacity.

Segura’s good friend Kreischer did have fun as usual on Raw. He ran into The War Raiders backstage, where he took some chops from Ivar in a lighthearted manner. The comedian was recently on another episode of Raw, where he shared the ring with CM Punk in an off-air moment.

While celeb integration could add to the shows, they’ve actually been given airtime ever since Raw’s official move to Netflix. It has often taking the spotlight away from wrestlers already devoid of on-screen opportunities. However, it may be Netflix using these shows to promote the comedians under their contract.

Tom Segura shares some snaps from this week’s Raw

It does seem like Tom Segura had a blast attending Raw this past Monday. He posted a number of pictures from the show on his Instagram. The 2 Bears, 1 Cave co-host also got himself clicked with WWE Superstars like Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Grayson Waller, Chad Gable, and Austin Theory. Segura joked in his caption that he did mess up in the past, but no one in WWE killed him for that.

Raw has been on Netflix since January, and a number of celebrities have graced it. On its premiere episode, both the Culkins, viz., Macaulay Culkin and Kieran Culkin, were there. The latter was greeted by CM Punk after The Best in the World had just beaten Seth Rollins. Punk congratulated Culkin on his Golden Globes exploits from the previous night as well.

Vanessa Hudgens was also in the building. She was on a roll at that point, attending a number of WWE shows quite frequently. This tradition of roping in mainstream faces as much as possible doesn’t seem likely to fizzle out, especially with Raw being on Netflix. SmackDown, on the other hand, is relatively relaxed on that front.

What main evented this week’s Raw?

In a Money in the Bank qualifying match, Seth Rollins took on Finn Balor and Sami Zayn to close out this week’s Raw. The action was stellar, with each man pulling out all the stops to grab that elusive spot. Rollins eventually won after Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed took Zayn out of the equation and Dominik Mysterio inadvertently screwed up Balor.

The show didn’t end without CM Punk‘s music sending everyone into a frenzy. He clocked The Visionary with a GTS from behind and retreated quickly. It was sweet revenge for the Chicagoan who’d lost his tag team match against Rollins and Breakker at Saturday Night’s Main Event, thanks to Reed’s return.

Punk and Zayn are currently outnumbered by Rollins’ trio. It seems all but imminent that Roman Reigns will come in as the missing piece of the puzzle. The OTC was reported to be back on WWE television in early June. It remains to be seen if that actually comes to fruition.
