Marlon Humphrey felt disgusted after the USA duo Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles failed to secure the gold. He opened his X (previously known as Twitter) account and posted a controversial tweet.
The Baltimore Ravens corner, famous for his hard-hitting tackles on the football pitch, is no stranger to a few fiery words on social media. On Monday, he decided to take a dig at the USA women’s Olympic gymnastics team, who failed to secure a gold in the floor exercise competition.
Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade came first in the competition, Simone Biles finished second, and Jordan Chiles third, winning the silver and bronze, respectively. When they hopped onto the podium to receive their medals, the two US athletes decided to pay tribute to Andrade for the win. They both bowed down, accepting the 25-year-old as the champion.
This apparently rubbed Marlon Humphrey the wrong way. Otherwise, there’s hardly any reason for him to write, “This is literally disgusting” to a very emotional and memorable sportsmanship moment.

Perhaps Humphrey did not have a clue about Andrade’s background. She went through several setbacks before reaching the summit of glory.
Back in 2015, when she was only 16, Andrade tore her ACL, missing the World Championships per Olympics.com. She bounced back in 2016 and was pivotal in helping Brazil secure an Olympic qualification.
However, a year later, she suffered another ACL tear before the championship in Montreal. After recovering enough to participate in the Brazilian nationals, Andrade tore her ACL for the third time in 2018.
Humphrey should have researched her past before making a snarky comment because he has also experienced injuries in his football career. Her competitive nature pushed even 7-time gold medalist Biles to her absolute best.
Marlon Humphrey looks back on his 2023 season in disappointment
The Baltimore Ravens came close to reaching the Super Bowl, only to lose to eventual champions, the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game in Baltimore. Humphrey missed the beginning of the season through injury but later came back to lodge 26 tackles, 5 pass deflections, and 1 interception. Not the best of numbers considering his Pro Bowl status, but it was enough for them to play in the championship game.
I had certain injuries where you needed rest, [and] I think I overtook some of the rest time, and then just thought I could just play in the game Sunday and be my usual self. So, [those] were probably some of the things I regret.Marlon Humphrey said on Monday after the Ravens practice (H/T: Baltimore Ravens.com)
The former first-rounder claimed not being used to the doctors’ table that much, which hindered his play on the field. Humphrey acknowledged injuries affected his performance, and yet he felt disgusted seeing Andrade win. He should make up his mind.
