A two-day Asian Online Shooting Championship was organized by the Kuwait Shooting Federation and the Indian shooters struggled a bit as they faced stiff competition from around the world. However, Divyansh Singh Panwar and Saurabh Chaudhary shone in the 10-metre events to prove their mettle. The men’s air rifle was swept by the Indians as Divyansh led the way scoring 632.4.

Arjun Babuta and Deepak Kumar came second and third out of a total of 40 shooters who took part in the air rifle event. In the men’s air pistol event, Saurabh emerged victorious by shooting 588 to beat Iran’s Foroughi Javad. In the shotgun competition, Kynan Chenai shot 145 out of 150 and beat Kuwait’s Naser Meqlad by a point. Prithviraj Tondaiman shot 143 but narrowly missed out on a medal.

Manu Bhaker finishes third; Elavenil comes fourth

In the women’s side, Manu Bhaker finished third in women’s air pistol by scoring 578. The event was won by Iran’s Rostamiyan Haniyeh who scored 580. In the air rifle event, world no. 1 Elavenil Valarivan finished fourth by scoring 629.0. She was tied for the third place with Japan’s Shiori Hirata but missed a medal due to the count back rule. The event was won by Mongolia’s Enkhmaa Erdenechuluun. Apurvi Chandela scored 624.4 and came 8th in the air rifle event.

The Indian women found some success in the trap event as Rajeshwari Kumari, Shreyasi Singh and Manisha Keer swept the medals.
