In Short
  • DJ Moore joined the Buffalo Bills after being traded from the Chicago Bears, where he had his first winning season.
  • The Bills acquired Moore along with a 2026 fifth-round draft pick, while sending a 2026 second-round pick to Chicago.
  • Moore aims to help the Bills achieve their Super Bowl aspirations, having previously recorded four seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards.

The Buffalo Bills addressed the team’s need for a veteran wideout by adding DJ Moore earlier this month. Moore, an eight-year NFL veteran, joined the Bills after experiencing his first and only winning season in Chicago with the Bears.

The Bears ruled the NFC North with an 11-6 record before losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round. Chicago parted ways with Moore by choosing to rely on their two young wideouts, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III.

The Bills acquired Moore via a trade and also received a 2026 fifth-round draft pick from Chicago. Buffalo received a 2026 second-round draft pick.

Moore wants to keep racking up wins, and the Bills give him the best shot at making his dream of winning a Super Bowl come true. That’s one thing he has in common with the Bills, who last played in football’s biggest game back in 1994.

I look forward to getting back there with the Bills…

DJ Moore said (H/T: The Buffalo Bills’ official transcript)

Moore may be new in Buffalo, but he’s well familiar with head coach Joe Brady, who recently took over from Sean McDermott. Brady and Moore worked together during the 2020 and 2021 NFL seasons at Carolina. On both occasions, Moore eclipsed 1100 yards and scored four touchdowns.

Brady took the vacant offensive coordinator job in Buffalo the following year. Under Brady’s tutelage, quarterback Josh Allen averaged over 4,000 yards and 32 total touchdowns. In 2024, the voters declared Allen as the best player in the league. Last year, the Bills came in second in the division behind the Patriots and faced the Broncos in the divisional playoff final, losing 33-30 in overtime.

Not one Bills receiver crossed 1000 yards in 2025. Khalil Shakir led the group with 72 catches for 719 yards and 4 touchdowns, while second-year wideout Keon Coleman hauled in 39 passes for 572 yards and 5 touchdowns. Stefon Diggs was the last player to rack up 1000 yards for the Bills during his final year (2022) in Buffalo.

I’m excited for the new challenge and a new journey. I think my time in Chicago, [it] ran its course, and it ended on a great note with it being a great season in how it ended. Now it’s time to do that [Buffalo] here.

Moore has recorded four seasons surpassing 1,000 receiving yards, with his most impressive performance in 2023, amassing 1,364 yards and 8 touchdowns on 96 receptions.

NFL analyst is not thrilled by the Bills’ signing of WR DJ Moore

Right after the trade was announced, FOX Sports NFL analyst Jason McIntyre raised questions about the move. McIntyre noted that Moore is not a good fit for the AFC East franchise.

In an episode of The Herd, McIntyre said,

DJ Moore is nothing close to a No. 1 receiver. The Bills have drafted seven receivers since they had Josh Allen… none of them have had a 1,000-yard season… this guy [Bills GM Brandon Beane] is failing left and right.

McIntyre harshly declared that Allen will never win the Super Bowl while throwing to Moore and Shakir.

Last season was the shot. [With Patrick] Mahomes was hurt… Lamar Jackson didn’t even make the playoffs… Joe Burrow… he didn’t make the playoffs, and the Bills could not get there.

McIntyre may not view Moore as a good addition to the Bills, but his stats paint a different picture.

By that metric, Moore is the best receiver the Bills have had, even when Diggs was still around in the Meadowlands. Only time will decide whether it was the right move or not.
