DJ Reed didn’t hold back against the referees after the New York Jets lost 26-21 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. It was a game that had everything—from muffed snaps to blocked field goals and even 300-pound Leonard Williams picking off Aaron Rodgers.
Even through all this, the referee’s officiating was spot-on until the closing moments of the game. The 21-7 trailing Seahawks recovered remarkably, closing the gap to just five points with under eight minutes left.
A crucial Breece Hall fumble handed the ball back to Seattle, and they went straight back to the Jets thirty. Quarterback Geno Smith hit tight end Noah Fant for a first down and then set up running back Zach Charbonnet, who bundled the ball from 8 yards to give Seattle the lead.
Since trailing by 14 to Charbonnet’s touchdown, the referees penalized the Jets 12 times for 83 yards. Moreover, the refs extended the drive twice as they penalized Qwan’tez Stiggers and Solomon Thomas on back-to-back plays. This ticked off DJ Reed who lashed out at the NFL referees on X but later deleted it.
@NFLOfficiating you FXC****G suck, yall should be ashamed of yall selves.!

DJ Reed might face some harsh penalties for criticizing the referees
The NFL committee is always strict about keeping the sanctity of the game. It can mean several different things. From prohibiting players from flashing unwarranted gestures to limiting any manner of violent conduct, nothing goes unnoticed.

They provide special immunity to the referees if a situation similar to DJ Reed’s arises. It will not surprise anyone if they choose to punish the veteran cornerback.
They did not even spare the reigning defensive player of the year, Myles Garrett, for raising his voice against the officials. For calling NFL officiating a ‘travesty,’ Garrett was fined $25,000 by the committee.
Jets struggle continues
The Jets blew a two-score lead, and that too against their former quarterback. Smith ended the game with 20 completions for 206 yards and 1 touchdown.
Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, struggled to find passes in the game. The 41-year-old ended the day with 21 completions from 39 for 185 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. All-Pro receiver Davante Adams caught five passes for 66 yards and one touchdown.
The loss left the Jets with a 3-9 record with five games to spare. They have to face divisional rivals the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins (twice), the Los Angeles Rams, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
