Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf shared his perspective on Thursday’s game’s physical altercation with Chicago Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson. The Seahawks defeated the Bears in the lowest-score affair in the league, 6-3, a game devoid of any touchdowns, which happened for the second time this season.
During the second quarter of the Seattle Seahawks’ victory over Chicago, DK Metcalf, and Tyrique Stevenson exchanged shoves following a blocking engagement, culminating in Metcalf appearing to head-butt his opponent. The incident resulted in Metcalf receiving an unnecessary roughness penalty. Metcalf concluded the game with three receptions for 42 yards, while Stevenson contributed with three tackles.
DeKaylin Zecharius “DK” Metcalf acknowledged that he’s a grown man fully capable of controlling his emotions via Jane Slater of NFL Network.
However, this is not the first time Metcalf has lost control of emotions on the field. The two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has faced challenges in managing his emotions, having been fined five times during the 2023 season for infractions including unnecessary roughness, unsportsmanlike conduct, and blindside block violations according to Spotrac.

Although Metcalf has shown improvement in 2024, he incurred an $11,255 fine for unnecessary roughness during Seattle’s 29-20 loss to the New York Giants in Week 5.
DK Metcalf continues to mess up run game
The Seahawks should have secured a victory over the Vikings. Riq Woolen needed to deliver on the promise he showed in the preseason and his Pro Bowl rookie year, and DK Metcalf needed to execute the assigned route.
Although Metcalf had a solid performance with three receptions on seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s decision to rely on him in a crucial moment proved costly. Metcalf failed to execute the route properly—a recurring issue in his game. Instead, the play should have gone to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, as most have come to expect in critical situations.
Metcalf, despite his impressive physical attributes—running a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at 6’4″ and 235 pounds—continues to underperform at the catch point. His inability to leverage his size and athleticism has been a significant disappointment, contributing to the Seahawks ranking last in the NFL in contested catch rate this season. He has the 32nd-lowest contested catch rate in the league.

As the offense struggled to establish its rhythm, the defense rose to the occasion, delivering one of its most commanding performances of the season. Facing a Bears offense that failed to gain traction, Seattle’s defense exerted relentless pressure, recording seven sacks and securing a pivotal interception that shifted the momentum decisively in their favor.
