A lot can change in a month. For DK Metcalf, the new football season will be a fresh start. Ever since being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as the 6th overall pick of the 2019 draft, he has become the star of the team’s offense. However, he wanted a change in scenario and asked to be traded.

Metcalf would very soon be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers and reunite with Russell Wilson. He has signed a new contract for five seasons worth $150 million. Shortly after, DK Metcalf proposed to his longtime girlfriend Normani. The latest addition to the Steelers is optimistic of his move to the team.

Metcalf has been criticized for walking away from one uncertain quarterback situation into the other. After trading him, Seattle signed Sam Darnold to a three-year worth $110.5 million deal.

The wide receiver now faces an uncertain situation in Pittsburgh as the team has yet to take a call on who will be their quarterback moving forward. DK Metcalf spoke with owners Art Rooney II, HC Mike Tomlin, and GM Omar Khan, who convinced him to play in the black and yellow jersey.

I hopped on the phone with those three great gentlemen, they made me felt welcome, first off. And then secondly, they made me feel like they had the right decision with who was going to be throwing me the football. And I’m not deciding on the quarterback room, so I’m just going to do the best of my abilities to help whoever they have out there throwing the football so they make the correct decisions to bring the quarterback in here. So I’m just going to roll with that.

DK Metcalf said during his introductory press conference

Metcalf understands that picking the quarterback is not a part of his job description, but he feels confident that the front office will pair him up with the right man.

The Steelers are attempting to sign Aaron Rodgers

If Pittsburgh opts to sign Russell Wilson, then the two will be reunited. They have a pre-existing chemistry together and Metcalf respects him because the veteran and his wife Ciara were the ones to introduce him to Normani.

However, Mike Tomlin has been urging the GM to pull no stops to try and sign Aaron Rodgers. The veteran who is a free agent has taken a meeting with the New York Giants apart from the Steelers. There is a good chance that he would be inclined to sign with the latter, due to the mastermind which is Mike Tomlin.

However, the Giants are reportedly offering him more money. Irrespective of who they bring at quarterback, Metcalf intends to make peace and put his best foot forward.

The Steelers’ offense will be dangerous with Metcalf and Pickens on the field. Last season, although the team made it to the Wild Card Round, they were expected to lose. Their offense was mediocre, and although both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson showed some promise over the season, they were inconsistent.

Rumors had suggested that Justin Fields may be retained by the Steelers. In comparison to Russell Wilson, he has more room to grow, and he is a dual-threat quarterback. However, the Jets swooped in to trade for him shortly after free agency commenced. The Steelers are prioritizing improving their pass offense rather than relying on the run game. This was imminent with Najee Harris‘ departure.
