DK Metcalf gave Minkah Fitzpatrick a taste of his strength on Monday. The star Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver not only shoved the All-Pro defensive back aside but also scored an unlikely touchdown.

Five minutes before the end of the third quarter on 3rd & 11, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw an inch-perfect pass to Metcalf for a first down. But Metcalf made the play even sweeter for his team.

He turned around to face his marker, Fitzpatrick, and shoved him aside like a Madden ragdoll before outpacing all the other Dolphins defenders to score a touchdown. It increased the Steelers’ lead to 18 points.

According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Metcalf picked up 13.6 yards after the catch over expected on this TD. On a simpler note, on any other occasion, receivers would be happy with a first down. Metcalf’s the reason the Steelers bagged a touchdown.

Moments later, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor and Yahoo Sports reported that Fitzpatrick went down after taking a hard knock. Being a former Steeler, players from both groups showed concern for his well-being by surrounding him as the medical team tended to him.

Later, the Dolphins’ official X account announced that Fitzpatrick suffered a calf injury. He didn’t return to the game.

Fitzpatrick began his NFL career with the Dolphins. After getting selected 11th overall, he would only make 18 appearances before being traded to the Steelers, where he spent the next five years of his life. The Steelers traded Fitzpatrick back to the Dolphins ahead of the 2025 season, along with a 2027 fifth-round pick. In exchange, the Steelers received Super Bowl-winning DB Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Jonnu Smith extended the Steelers’ lead to 25 points early in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins mounted a late comeback. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdown passes to tight end Darren Waller. It wasn’t enough to match the Steelers’ total. The Week 15 fixture at Acrisure ended in a 15-28 victory for the Steelers, and they improved to 8-6.

Metcalf finished with a modest 3 catches on 3 targets (100%) for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. He’s definitely oozing with confidence and playing far better under the snow. Last week, he tore down the Baltimore Ravens’ defense with a 7/12 catches for 148 yards (21.1 yards per catch) performance in a 27-22 victory.

Wide receiver Calvin Austin raved about his Pro Bowl teammate after the Steelers’ eighth win of the season.

That’s why he is who he is. Just little boyed the guy and just got in the end zone. I feel like when every DK catch the ball just got to be ready to just turn up field because he going to definitely make one or two guys miss.

The Steelers need similar impactful performances from Metcalf if they wish to win the Super Bowl. With Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow out of the picture, and Lamar Jackson likely to join them soon, the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have a solid chance at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in San Francisco this February.

Metcalf could be the key to achieving that feat. He’s already racked up 808 yards and 6 touchdowns on 55 receptions with three more games left in the regular season.

DK signed a five-year, $150 million ($35 million AAV) contract in the offseason following his trade from the Seattle Seahawks.
