As Alex Ovechkin continues to pursue the goal-scoring record of Wayne Gretzky, the veteran forward seems to have turned by the clock. The 39-year-old found himself on the scoresheet once again, which brought out praise from former Capitals star Dmitry Orlov.

Orlov’s two goals saw him help his team, the Carolina Hurricanes, stop the winning run of the Washington Capitals. This victory also saw them extend their winning run to six games.

Orlov, who had spent a huge time with Ovechkin on the ice, was full of praise for him. In the press conference after the game, the former Capitals star hailed ‘Ovi’ as a “legend” and called him one of the best goal scorers of the league.

He’s one of the best goal-scorers in the league. He’s a legend, it’s nice for him. It (stinks) that he scored today, but he’s chasing the record. I’m happy for him.

Canes’ goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov reveals Alex Ovechkin hurled some ‘bad words’ at him after scoring against him

As he inches closer to history, Alex Ovechkin seems more and more pumped. In the game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Russian star scored his 860th goal in the NHL. After that, he appeared to have hurled some ‘bad words‘ towards his fellow Russian star Pyotr Kochetkov.

This goal was Ovechkin’s fourth goal against Kochetkov. During the celebrations, Ovi would pump his fist and yell some words in the direction of the countrymen. After the game, the goaltender joked that he (Ovechkin) did say something to him.

Yeah, yeah. Every time he tell me lots of bad words. He scored me, ‘I score you! I score you!’ All Russians do this. It’s no problem for me.

Pyotr Kochetkov said in the post game press conference.

Kochetkov made 19 saves in the victory, far less than compared to his counterpart, Charlie Lindgren, who faced 44 shots from the Hurricanes. The Capitals were playing in their fourth game in three days and seemed visibly tired due to this.

The Hurricanes remain in second place in the Metropolitan Division after this win. They will look to extend their winning run to seven games when they face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. As for the Capitals, they have the chance to bounce back on Wednesday night when they welcome the Nashville Predators.
