Nate Robinson and Doc Rivers

Long-time NBA head coach Doc Rivers has a long list of teams he has led and a significant number of players in whose career he has helped nurture and develop, but that has never stopped the constant criticism he has been facing. The most recent has come from a former player, Nate Robinson, who believes that the best Coach Rivers does is to mess up the teams he leads.

Nate Robinson made this known while speaking to Udonis Haslem on the OGs Podcast, where he revealed a beef he had with Coach Rivers while he was still an active NBA player. According to Robinson, Doc Rivers cost him a crazy amount of his salary bonus after giving him a DNP in the season’s final game.

I don't know what Doc is gonna do now that Doc is there. It seems like mess up every place he goes. I had it in my contract where I made like $2 million, like $1.5 or something like that if I played a certain amount of games. Doc Rivers gives me a DNP in the game where I needed one more game to get $1.5 million. The real one in me just wanted to say f*ck it and just sub... I didn't even ask, but I know he did that sh*t on purpose.

Furthermore, there were reports of him missing out on the $1 million as part of his bonus during the 2009-10; however, Rivers benched him twice near the end of the regular season before bringing him on in the next four contests. Furthermore, he appeared in 56 games, two short of the requirement in the contract he signed with the Knicks.

While Robinson still has terrible feelings for his former coach, it doesn’t look like he wants to settle the beef anytime soon. And for the Bucks under Doc Rivers, with the team losing games, they usually should win and fail to keep up the momentum with runaway league leaders, such as the Boston Celtics.

Are the Bucks regretting firing Adrian Griffin for Doc Rivers?

The process of letting go of Adrian Griffin by the Milwaukee Bucks was super swift as his replacement, Doc Rivers, was hired without having interviews or looking into other candidates to take complete control of the locker room dynamics especially. However, it seems everything hasn’t gone as planned at the Fiserv Forum, as the Bucks have forgotten how to win games.

Their latest loss came at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, a 125-107 away loss. They are 11th on the Eastern Conference form table in their last 10 games with a poor record of three wins and seven defeats.

Whether the blame is on Head Coach Doc Rivers is left for speculation. But one thing is sure: the Bucks don’t have the fear factor that characterized them during their championship-winning season, and maybe they shouldn’t have let go of Adrian Griffin the way they did, or maybe Nate Robinson has a point about Rivers.
