Doctor breaks silence on Anthony Davis injury severity as Mavericks’ latest addition faces setback
Mavs' newest star Anthony Davis' injuy update does not look good as per a few medical experts on social media.

On Saturday afternoon, the Dallas Mavericks took on the Houston Rockets. Notably, Anthony Davis, the Mavs’ new star, made his eagerly anticipated team debut. Davis demonstrated his authority in the game as he excelled for the Mavs. He injured his “quad area,” though, so the game did not end the way he might have wanted it to.
As per Shams Charania, a left adductor injury has now resulted in Davis’ indefinite absence. Given that, several medical professionals have provided information about his condition on X. According to Jesse Morse, M.D., this is a slow-healing injury. At first, he believed Davis would be sidelined for over four weeks due to a grade 1 or grade 2 strain.

Former Laker, now Maverick is likely a grade 1 groin (adductor) strain, possibly closer to a grade 2.
The adductor muscle/tendon is notorious for slow healing due to poor blood supply. Therefore it is very commonly reinjured.

Although that is not good news, things could get worse. Since this strain is the result of an abdominal injury, another medical expert, Dr. Evan Jeffries, JPT, is worried that it might develop into a sports hernia. Notably, there is no proof that the Mavericks hurried Davis back. This was from the injury on his abdomen sustained on January 28 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Sounds like this may have been a reinjury to Anthony Davis’ injury.

As a result it may be a ‘sports hernia’ injury.
The Mavericks would have been very aware of this injury when they were completing his physical exam for the trade.

The Mavericks’ awareness of this suggests that they did not consider it a serious red signal, as the Los Angeles Lakers did when they performed Mark Williams’ physical. As a result, the Lakers canceled the Williams trade, but the Mavericks chose not to follow suit. Now all attention will drift onto another Anthony Davis injury update in the coming days.
Anthony Davis’ injury puts Adam Silver into dilemma ahead of All-Star matchup
After sustaining a leg injury, Anthony Davis‘ Dallas Mavericks debut was cut short. Before being benched late in the third quarter, the All-Star forward/center finished with 31 minutes of play, 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks. But because of his injury, the NBA will now have to make some last-minute adjustments for the All-Star Game.
Regardless, this does put the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver into a dilemma, just days before the NBA All-Star game. Silver now has to find a replacement for Davis and another injured player, according to NBA insider, Chris Haynes. Silver is not tasked with 1 but 2 replacements for the All-Star game, as Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is also sidelined for the event.

Given that the game against the Houston Rockets might be the only time Davis plays for his new team this season. This seems to be a genuine case. The 28-25 Mavericks will most likely miss the playoffs if he does miss the remainder of the season.
