Los Angeles Dodgers coach Dave Roberts dropped a major update regarding his future recently. He admitted that he and the Dodgers organization are in negotiations over a contract extension that would see him continue his stay in the city of LA.
Roberts has been the coach of the Dodgers since 2016. In this tenure, he has guided the team to 8 divisional titles and 2 World Series triumphs with the 2024 being his third championship ring as a player and manager in the MLB.
For a long time, the future of Roberts has been the talking point. Speaking with MLB insider Buster Olney on the Baseball Tonight Podcast, the 52-year-old claimed that he and the team have started talking about his extension. However, his major focus is on delivering another championship to the team and getting them ready for the new season.
We have just started talking and so I think for me, I’m hopeful but I’m going to focus on winning games, I’m going to focus on getting better as a manager, getting our guys prepared for Opening Day, for this great season to win another championship.

Roberts’ .627 winning percentage is the highest of any manager in MLB history (minimum 315 games). He also ranks fourth in all-time wins as a Dodgers coach with 851.
The Japanese-American coach had a $3.25 million salary in the 2024 season. Given the way the team has spent money this offseason, they might go big again to tie him down to a huge contract.
Dodgers new signee Blake Snell shoots down “villains” narrative from fans following huge backlash for spending
The Los Angeles Dodgers have gone strong in the offseason. They have spent a huge amount of cash on landing some top names. One of their new signee Blake Snell recently defended his team’s action and shot down the “villains” narrative.

Snell joined the team on a 5-year $182 million deal after optioning out of his two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants. Apart from him, the Dodgers have splashed the cash to bring back Blake Treinen and Teoscar Hernandez and added new faces such as Michael Conforto, Hyeseong Kim, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates.
All of these moves have led to a huge backlash from the fans. On social media, they have slammed the team and have termed them as “villains” of baseball. Speaking at the Dodger FanFest last weekend, Snell urged the others to follow what the Dodgers are doing.
I don’t look at us as villains. I look at us as a team that wants to win. If any other teams or fanbases want to get upset, you know what to do. Follow what the Dodgers are doing. They want to win, they’re spending money. That’s how you have to do it.
Blake Snell told the reporters at the FanFest
The two-time Cy Young Award winner had recently clapped back at a hate message on Instagram as well. A fan had attacked him for joining the Dodgers after playing for the SF Giants a year ago. Snell would urge the fan to go and be upset with their team instead of hating on something they did not know.
Blake Snell responding to a Giants fan with "go dodgers 💙" is just so funny to me. He's going to make those games against the Giants a lot more fun. pic.twitter.com/r0ZlgAiGiS

Snell will now be preparing for the Spring Training. Unlike last year, he will have plenty of time for preparation for the 2025 season. He will be part of a Dodgers rotation that will include Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki.
