On Monday, Minnesota Twins star Carlos Correa came into the spotlight as he and his team took on the Los Angeles Dodgers. During the game at Dodger Stadium, the home fans would throw in some brutal ‘cheater‘ chants at Correa as he came up to bat.
The 30-year-old received a hostile reception from the LA crowd in the 2nd inning. With the Twins down 2-1 early on, he got ready to face Shohei Ohtani from the mound.
As he stepped up to the batter’s box, loud chants of ‘cheater’ were thrown at him, which would later ring around the arena. Check out a video regarding this incident below:

Correa, a 3-time MLB All-Star, was part of the Houston Astros from 2015 to 2021. During this tenure, he was one of the top names on the Astros’ lineup during their 2017 World Series triumph against the Dodgers.
The Astros were later found to be stealing signs from the opposition. The Dodgers were one team against whom the team would steal signs and signal their batter about the upcoming pitches.
Since their sign-stealing scandal broke out, several MLB fans have bashed the players from that Astros team. Not just Correa, stars like Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman have received a similar kind of treatment from the Dodgers fans.
Earlier this month, when the Astros visited Dodger Stadium, Altuve received heavy boos and was serenaded with similar chants of ‘cheater’. The 2nd baseman would silence the fans with a 2 home run performance, which helped his team register a thumping 18-1 win.

Speaking of Correa, the chants of ‘cheater’ seemed to have affected him. He would line out to right field in the matchup against Ohtani and went hitless in the game.
Carlos Correa almost silenced Dodgers fans at the end of the game
Carlos Correa was greeted with several boos and brutal chants from the Dodgers fans on Monday whenever he stepped up to the plate. The Minnesota Twins star almost silenced the fans present in the stadium towards the end of the game.

Correa, who was 0-for-4 in the game, came up to bat in the top of the 9th inning with two outs and two runners on base. With the Dodgers leading 5-2, it was the perfect time for Correa to come up clutch for his team.
The former Houston Astros star would connect on an 87 mph ball to center field. Outfielder James Outman would run back towards the wall and make a leaping grab to rob Correa of a 3-run home run off Kirby Yates, and ended the game.

Correa ended the evening going 0-for-5. The infielder is having a down season compared to his standards. Last year, due to an injury, he played in just 86 games and managed to hit 14 home runs and drove in 54 runs with a .310 batting average.
This year, he has already played in more games than last time out. In 87 games, Correa has managed just 7 home runs and 31 RBI. His batting average has also fallen to .263 following this encounter against the Dodgers.
Dodgers get important win against Twins
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been going through some troubling times. The 2024 World Series winner entered the game on Monday on the back of a season series sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers. Their 5-2 win against the Minnesota Twins was thus an important one.

Things did not start well for the Dodgers again, as Byron Buxton took Shohei Ohtani deep on the second pitch of the game. The Twins star would crush a huge bomb in the left center field to put his team on board early on.
After allowing his first home run of the season, Ohtani answered back in the next inning as he smashed a 2-run home run to center field. The Japanese international hit his 35th home run of the season to give his side the lead.
Two solo home runs from Will Smith and one from Andy Pages put the Dodgers in a comfortable position. After Ohtani pitched three innings, Dustin May would relieve him and pitch 4.2 innings. 0.2 innings from Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates saw the NL West team break a 3-game losing run.
