The Los Angeles Dodgers and their owners are once again in money talks. This time it is for a good reason though as team owner Mark Walter is giving a huge sum of $100 million in donation to the relief aid of Los Angeles wildfires.

The city of LA has been in havoc ever since the Palisades fire broke out. Since January 7, the fire has spread across the Eaton and Hurst region. As per reports, around 57,000 acres of land have been burned down due to this wildfires.

On Tuesday, Dodgers’ part owner and NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson revealed the plan of Walters. He, the Walter Family Foundation and the Dodgers Foundation will contribute up to $100 million to help in the relief of this disaster.

Meanwhile, Johnson claimed that it was time to take a “bold action” against this wildfire. In a statement, the former Los Angeles Lakers star said that they will ensure every LA native has the chance to rebuild whatever they lost in this wildfires.

This is a time for bold action. We’re bringing together the best resources and biggest hearts across California to ensure that every Angeleno, no matter their race, socioeconomic status, or neighborhood, has a chance to rebuild and thrive.

Apart from this, Governor Gavin Newson along with Johnson, Walter and Casey Wasserman will lead a new private-sector initiative to help in the recovery. This group will be called the LA Rises. This group will aid in the effort of the city to rebuild several parts of Southern California that have been damaged due to this fires.

Recently, Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani also made a donation. The 2024 NL MVP made a donation of $500,000. Whereas, his teammate Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea, gave $300,000 in donation.

Apart from this, 12 sports teams from LA come together to donate $8 million. This led to mixed reactions from fans. They claimed that the teams have more than enough money and could have donated more than this sum.
