Seems like the New York Yankees are not only in danger of losing the World Series, but also their superstar outfielder Juan Soto. Soto’s free agency has been one of the most talked about in the past few months, with deals rumored to be around $500 million to $700 million.

With all predictions and teams entering the Soto free agency war, a new name popped up much to everyone’s surprise – the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees are currently battling the Dodgers in the best-of-seven World Series. The latter is leading the game with a 3-0 score.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, LA Dodgers can ask for Juan Soto in the free agency considering “if he’s interested”. Other teams with a high rate of acquiring the outfielder are the Yankees and the New York Mets.

Many predicted that he may surpass Dodgers Shohei Ohtani in AAV if not in the deal as a whole. Furthermore, the Ohtani-Soto pair-up will be a killer move for the team in the big series. Currently, Soto is enjoying his time in NY and often speaks about how he loves being a Yankee.

I feel like it’s them…They really welcomed me, really nice, and how they treat me and how they make me feel when I stepped in that clubhouse in spring training. They really make it easy for me. I think they are the big part of this, that’s why I feel really comfortable with where I’m at and how happy I am right now.

Juan Soto said as per Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report.

The rumors of the Dodgers pursuing Soto are further explained by the fact that he interacted with the team’s players during the Home Run Derby this year. Although it’s all up in the air with no official statement from the organization itself.

Jeff Passan tells Dodgers pursuing Juan Soto rumors are false

Baseball columnist Jeff Passan coldly rejected the idea of the Los Angeles Dodgers pursuing Juan Soto in free agency. During his call with Michael Kay, Passan said “nope” directly, hammering the nail on the rumor.

His reason for saying so remains in the imbalance it’ll create in Major League Baseball. Top players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and is addition of Juan Soto are also considered, they’ll be the toughest team to beat in any series.

The truth of the matter is, if Juan Soto signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers there will be a feeling of great imbalance in the sport. Beyond the fact that I don’t think he wants to go to California – he’s done that. It’s a really long way from the Dominican Republic. And he likes New York.

Apart from adding the Dodgers to the bidding war, the most likely winners of Juan Soto’s free agency will be the Yanks or the Mets. NY Mets owner Steve Cohen is one of the richest in MLB and may be willing to pull the trigger to get Soto. As per Forbes, the next deal will be “somewhere around $50 million per year.”
