Drew McIntyre has been a top star of the company for a long time. He made his return to WWE in 2017 and proved his doubters wrong. Upon making his main roster return, he was paired with Dolph Ziggler as a tag team. The duo achieved greatness in their stint and made memories together. Reminiscing about the time, Ziggler recalled one of the moments from the past with his buddy, the Scottish Warrior.
Taking it to X, the TNA Superstar posted a picture of himself and Drew McIntyre. It was a click from the pandemic era when the two stars were in a short-term feud over the WWE Championship. The Show-Off wrote that he had the moment of sharing the ring with his friend today a couple of years ago.
McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler were a formidable tag team team. They were active during 2017–18, when they even won the Tag Team Championships a couple of times. It was a major kickstart for the Scottish Warrior after returning from being released by the company a couple of years before. Thereafter, the 39-year-old even became the WWE Champion and defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania.
Both talents are on quite different paths as of now. Mr Ziggles was released by WWE last year and has been trying to make a name for himself in TNA. As for the Scottish Born, he has been involved in a heated feud with CM Punk and has been on a path of revenge against the Best in the World.
The date of Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk revealed as per some recent reports
Drew McIntyre has bad blood for CM Punk all over this year. It all started at the Royal Rumble 2024. However, they have not faced each other in a single match yet. Now, a report has emerged suggesting the date on which WWE has planned the anticipated match between the two stars.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is currently planning to have Punk vs. McIntyre at SummerSlam this year. However, it is not locked yet, as it all depends on the condition of the Second City Saint’s injury. As it looks now, the two stars will likely be cleared to compete at Cleveland Browns’ Stadium this year.
It was one of the reasons that WWE didn’t make the Scottish Warrior Champion at Clash at the Castle. Besides, there was a major storyline progression this week on SmackDown when the former WWE Champion wrecked the Straight Edge Superstar. Therefore, it also makes it profound that they are going to face each other at SummerSlam finally.
