After making just nine catches across nine games, Odell Beckham Jr. was waived by the Miami Dolphins on Friday. The decision, announced by the team, comes as Beckham struggled to find his footing in Miami’s offense.

In his Friday press conference, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel described the move as mutually beneficial, emphasizing that it was made with the best interests of both parties in mind.

McDaniel admitted that the decision was made based on what would be best for both the individual and the team moving forward. They felt it was the right time to take that direction.

It’s as simple as, what’s the best for both him and the team moving forward. We thought it was a good time to go that direction. I know his expectations. When you communicate transparently, I know where he’s at. This is the best for both parties.

Mike McDaniel said

Beckham’s impact on the field was limited during his brief stint in Miami. He played just 20 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in the games he appeared in, totaling nine receptions for 55 yards. While his name carries significant weight in the league, his role within Miami’s high-powered offense never materialized as hoped.

Pittsburgh Steelers could be an option for Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. could be an excellent fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers, particularly given their current situation with injuries to key players like George Pickens, Larry Ogunjobi, and DeShon Elliott. Beckham is a two-time All-Pro, a three-time Pro Bowler, and a Super Bowl champion, having earned his ring with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.

With Pickens out due to injury, the Steelers are left with a void at wide receiver. Beckham, a proven playmaker with excellent hands and an ability to make game-changing catches, would immediately strengthen the receiving corps. Beckham is known for his ability to stretch the field, create separation, and make spectacular catches.

While the Steelers have solid players, they lack a true No. 1 receiver who can change the game with explosive plays. Beckham, though not as dominant as he once was, still can perform at a high level and fill that role for the Steelers, making him a great fit.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have appeared to be in need of receiving help throughout the season, especially after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in March. While they acquired Mike Williams at the NFL trade deadline, his contribution has been limited, as he has caught four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in five games since joining the team.
