Mike McDaniel was part of the San Francisco 49ers team headed by Kyle Shanahan when they drafted defensive end Nick Bosa in 2019. Even though he rarely got the chance to work with Bosa because he looked after the offensive side of things, they struck a chord between them.

That connection remained intact even after McDaniel left to take over the head coaching job at the Miami Dolphins. These two teams met each other on Sunday in Miami for the week 16 fixture. The Dolphins carved out a 29-19 victory.

At 7-8, the Dolphins still have an outside chance of making it to the playoffs, whereas the 49ers were eliminated after the Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in DC.

After the game, Nick Bosa caught up with McDaniel and congratulated him for the Dolphins winning the game.

Thanks, man. South Florida is pretty cool.

McDaniel replied.

Social media string tampering theories in Mike McDaniel’s statement to Nick Bosa

The brief exchange of pleasantries did not go unnoticed by the prying eyes of social media. Initially, fans only viewed the conversation as harmless banter, but the discussion switched direction.

A section of the fans called out McDaniel for illegal tampering. Head coaches from other teams can’t just go about and try to recruit players like that. It’s unethical.

The NFL keeps its eyes on everything. If they deemed Mike McDaniel’s statement as tampering, then the 41-year-old should be ready for some sort of reprimand.

On the other hand, McDaniel and the Dolphins need to forget about recruiting star players from other teams for the time being. Their primary goal should be to win the remaining two games against the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets.

While the Dolphins stutter to perform against good teams, their record while playing below .500 teams is phenomenal. Both Browns and Jets fall into the latter category. Two wins and a few other results in their favor, and the Dolphins will play in the playoffs three years in a row.
